That makes it a bit easier! (cuts it by about 2/3rds!) 1989 Montego estate 2.0HL, silver. Hardworking and reliable. 1991 Citroen XM estate 2.0 petrol. Estate cars don't get much better than this. 2004 R50 MINI Cooper, red and white 2007 R53 MINI Cooper S, hyper blue and white - one of my all time favourite cars! 2010 Ford Focus RS, white - looked great, nice Volvo mechanicals, but hard to bond with. 2012 Land Rover FL2 HSE, red. 2013 Land Rover FL2 HSE Lux, red 2015 Land Rover D4 HSE, red. 2015 Land Rover D4 HSE Lux, green. Bikes: 1977 Honda PF50 moped. Hateful 1979 Yamaha RS100. 1981 Suzuki GT200X5 1982 Suzuki GSX400F 1995 Triumph Sprint 900 (Brilliant bike - sold to good friend after 19 years!) 1998 Triumph Daytona 1200SE (owned from new to this day. Totally impractical!) 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 (Best bike I've ever owned and will keep until it can't be run any longer) 1980 Honda CB250RS long term tinkering restoration! A moment of madness Last edited by Tigger on 14th Jan 2017 9:48 pm. Edited 1 time in total |

It had the Citroen hydraulic suspension system which was computer controlled so that it only stiffened up when cornering and was speed defendant too although you could put it in sport mode and change the program. The suspension was so smooth that the BBC used them with a TV camera mounted on top for following horse racing around the track. I believe that the system is still used under licence by RollsRoyce now. You could also change a wheel without a jack, you just raised the suspension, put a brick under one corner and then lower it and it would lift the wheel off the ground. I had one strange event though. I had a front wheel puncture and drove for a couple of miles before I heard a banging noise, when I stopped I found a shredded front tyre. The suspension had lifted to compensate for the tyre going down and I hadn't felt anything! 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto 5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE |

Including company cars, I had 3 in the end, the others were 2.5 turbo diesels. I'd still have one today (alongside the LR) if it were possible Superb comfort, huge inside, brilliant seats, massive rear leg room, the best suspension I've ever used, reliable, well built (very un-Citroen like), the first car I've ever owned that didn't rust and the best load carrier (car) I've ever come across. The Volvo V70's (2000-2007) that I replaced them with were good. Very good. But the XM's were a lot better. |
