I trust your plumber had G3 certification for pressurised systems and registered it with the planning authorities. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I didn't know anything about that so I hope so!

Now the job is finished I will be getting the invoice and any relevant paperwork. All I was left today was the copy of the boiler service/inspection which is marked as a pass. Not bad for its first service since fitted 20+ years ago! I know I will be getting a certificate for the powerflush because I remember seeing it on the quote. They are a long established local firm and have been going for over 50 years so I'm assuming everything will be done as per the relevant regulations etc.

Have checked the engineers gas safe number on the gas safe website and the picture is him and this is what it shows (below) so I'm assuming everything is above board. Everything below is ticked for both natural gas and lpg so no concerns so far.

G3 certification, basically 'another' competent person scheme so that they can charge you more, the whole building industry is awash with such schemes and affiliations.

A friend of mine who is a very competent DIYer replaced the old Wylex plug in fuse box in his house with a "new" consumer unit with circuit breakers and RCD but made sure that it wasn't one for the latest wiring regulations so that he could say that it was installed before 2005 after which you have to have everything certified. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Absolutely right but along with electrics(see above), replacement windows and pressurised heating systems ,they all need appropriate certification lodged with the appropriate authority unless that is, you want to lie when the time comes to sell your property.

In addition I'm not sure how property insurance would stand up in the event of a major claim. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

All done and certificate will be with me in 10-15 days. Didn't take the plumbers word, I phoned up the Gas Safe Register myself and checked - just give them your address and they will confirm if it has been submitted.

Procedure is as follows for anyone interested: Gas Safe engineer submits self-certification of the installation to the Gas Safe Register, they then issue me with a certificate of compliance and notify the planning department of my local authority of the installation on my behalf. The work may be subject to a random check by the Gas Safe Register.

Big thanks to tenet for making me aware. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

You really need to triple check everything installed these days from boilers to electrical wire.

A few years ago dodgy chinese electrical wire was installed in 40,000 homes around Australia. To date very few people know of the fire hazard due to the breakdown of the wires insulation. There has been next to no public information. We have checked all the recent wiring in our block of units and fortunately we are ok.

Just another one of these third rate life threatening chinese products! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Well, that was quick and painless. Certificate of building regulations compliance came today from the Gas Safe Register listing the installation of an unvented hot water storage vessel. Local authority building control also notified by the GSR too. Job done! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
