G3 certification, basically 'another' competent person scheme so that they can charge you more, the whole building industry is awash with such schemes and affiliations. |

A friend of mine who is a very competent DIYer replaced the old Wylex plug in fuse box in his house with a "new" consumer unit with circuit breakers and RCD but made sure that it wasn't one for the latest wiring regulations so that he could say that it was installed before 2005 after which you have to have everything certified. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Absolutely right but along with electrics(see above), replacement windows and pressurised heating systems ,they all need appropriate certification lodged with the appropriate authority unless that is, you want to lie when the time comes to sell your property. In addition I'm not sure how property insurance would stand up in the event of a major claim. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold. All done and certificate will be with me in 10-15 days. Didn't take the plumbers word, I phoned up the Gas Safe Register myself and checked - just give them your address and they will confirm if it has been submitted.

You really need to triple check everything installed these days from boilers to electrical wire.

Well, that was quick and painless. Certificate of building regulations compliance came today from the Gas Safe Register listing the installation of an unvented hot water storage vessel. Local authority building control also notified by the GSR too. Job done! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
