SWMBO keeps a nail file in that tray thing. Ive not found a use for it - tried putting the fob there but it ends up on the floor completely out of reach.

Digressing slightly, I wish there was somewhere to put my fob. Our previous LR2s had a fob which slotted into a hole. Now it gets lost regularly as there is no "special" place for it. Arguments then arise about who had it last

Put it in the little tray to the right of the steering wheel - fits perfectly, provided you don't have a key ring or anything else attached to it.

I'm thinking that tray - if ever removed - would be a good location to add in some aftermarket switches/buttons if someone were to wire in some additional lights or add-ons to the vehicle. Just a convenient location for it...

2012 models onwards with the revised interior were keyless ignition, just need to have the fob in the car


There is a company out there, mentioned in the forum a few times with pics, that do a complete nav/camera etc set up that replaces the rubber bobble mat with a button pad. Really neat modification that looks factory.


I lost so many coins, pens, and other little bits trying to work out what the little bobbly tray is for initially, I used to curse the stupidity of the designer for such a useless storage shelf................ then I found out its true purpose as a hand rest

I get to drive the FL2 only occassionally I never really took any notice of that little tray - out of sight when Im driving.

I just assumed that's what the little tray is meant for - being close to the steering column, which is where the transponder is located.

This aftermarket sat nav system uses it for buttons.
