You still get paid decent interest on money in there (3% which beats normal ISA's). Basically, the solicitor applies to the government for their cheque towards the total amount owed when going through the motions ![]() P.S, good choice Steve ![]() LOT (Lord of Time) - University of Gallifrey |

So in a nutshell, the bonus is applied for but the Government don't part with it until completion. Only thing for it (short of family help) is to obtain a figure on what the bonus will be and do a transfer to bank on one of my credit cards for that amount then pay the resulting bill with the cheque and stomach the interest!

This is my normal everyday (not work though, as I work with machines) watch. It is a Seiko Kinetic made from titanium. It was an engagement present from the Mrs in 2002 and has some scuffs on it. As others have said it is a marmite thing and I love the weight of it. I also appreciate the work that has gone into making it, as I have had to work with titanium when fixing aircraft.. My wedding ring is titanium and I would love a titanium bike. You could say I like the material.

Damn! I've changed my mind again! Or rather, I've had it changed for me. Mrs D was going shopping over Bluewater last night and I thought I'd tag along, knowing there is an Omega shop over there and I could nudge her in and show her the watch I wanted. Went in there and was looking around when she spotted one that I hadn't considered before, mainly because of the price. It was a Tresor De Ville in gold with a crocodile leather strap. I know I said I didn't want gold but she said as it's a dress watch and will probably be passed on to my son (FFS, let me die first!) it would be a nice keepsake. Anyway, it's a manual winding watch, thin, very thin, and has just what I want - an hour, minute and second hand and a date window plus, and I don't know why I particularly want it but I do, it has a glass rear cover so you can see the movement. Not going to be used for diving or measuring speeds with a lap counter and all that gubbins so no chunky bits around the edge. Just perfect and comes with the wifey seal of approval. |

Getting near to buying and my arse is twitching like a rabbits nose - it's a lot of money after all! Everywhere has them at the RRP but I managed to find one Omega dealer having a sale so 15% off. Got on to the Gibraltar dealer and he could only offer 11% discount on this model so got back onto the Omega boutique near to me and told them my best price so far. He said they can offer 'gestures' but not over the phone. I have to be in the store and ready to buy. I suppose it's so I don't start playing one off against the other. Up until now it's just been figures on paper but now it's starting to look like real money!

Just bought this as a daily wearer, my trusty Seiko has been problematic recently and I had seen these. Love their automatics too but not for work.

A nice watch is worth having methinks. Bought a Heueeueueur Auto Sports watch for about £200 in 1979 - value now between £2500 and £2800. Mine does not say Tag on the face so quite collectable.
