I think the OBC is not too far off the mark if you let it arrive at a figure after a fair few miles. My OBC showed around the 40mpg figure given a mix of dual carriage ways, urban and country driving. This is borne out by working out mpg knowing mileage and how many gallons I put in. This figure is as near as damn it 39mpg. This last figure was worked out over usage of 30 gallons. |

I've recently returned from a trip down through France, Spain and into the Algarve and because this is the first extended trip for me and my Freely2 I noted miles between fill ups on the fuel receipts. The results are this:-

I would suggest a round trip of 320 miles might not be enough to come up with average figures. Also been told that engine at greatest efficiency at 1700 rpm which equates to 50mph in 5th and 60mph in 6th

I did a long trip this weekend, pretty full up, and 2 bicycles on the back, averaged 36mpg on the way there. Went up a bit with driving on dirt roads round the estate. Averaged 34 by the time we got home |

Did a round trip to Manchester and back over the weekend, approx 240 miles, computer average was 38.3mpg (the .3 makes a difference!), that was 95% motorway/dual carriageway at 70mph. Very chuffed with it actually, it's the first decent run I've had in the FL2 and it was such a dream to drive on the motorways! |

Just driven from Hamilton to Inverness . Motorway or A9 all the way to Perth , sat at about 62mph all the way to Perth. From Perth to Inverness it's still the A9 but with only a few parts have dual carriageways for passing , again I tried to sit at about 62mph but some smart arse has come up with the great idea of restricting anything that is over 7.5t to 50mph . Anyway the mpg I got was 42 , at one point I was getting just over 43mpg but being stuck in a long que of traffic traveling behind a coach that was doing 50mph the freelander wasn't happy had was soaking up fuel. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |
