England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

im just going on how many miles I get out of a tank with my variety of driving which is currently at 450miles per tank give or take 10-15miles. Ive achieved that for every tankful for the last 5/6 fill ups so im pretty happy given that its an auto.

I think the OBC is not too far off the mark if you let it arrive at a figure after a fair few miles. My OBC showed around the 40mpg figure given a mix of dual carriage ways, urban and country driving. This is borne out by working out mpg knowing mileage and how many gallons I put in. This figure is as near as damn it 39mpg. This last figure was worked out over usage of 30 gallons.

I've recently returned from a trip down through France, Spain and into the Algarve and because this is the first extended trip for me and my Freely2 I noted miles between fill ups on the fuel receipts. The results are this:-
Receipt mpg came out at an average of 35mpg.
The trip computer at the end of the trip said 41.8mpg.
So quite a discrepancy there. Exclamation MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I have owned a 2008 HSE Auto for three months with mostly runs of 40 to 60 miles and around town and get around 30 mpg!

no long runs planned as yet but a fear what mpg will be when I tow a caravan! I hope to do better that 19 from my old TDI Ranger Rover Vogue

Just spent circa 3.5 hours and around 160 miles each way from Leeds going to Bell Engineering for the Haldex cleaning out and new filter.

Car trip says:

Average Speed 60mph and 45 mpg

Zeroed to come back.

55 mph and 45 mpg FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I would suggest a round trip of 320 miles might not be enough to come up with average figures. Also been told that engine at greatest efficiency at 1700 rpm which equates to 50mph in 5th and 60mph in 6th
So possibly going in 6th return in 5th would I think give roughly same mpg.

Apart from price, what is the difference between diesel and premium diesel?

Does it give more MPG, better performance, less pollution, or is it beneficial to the engine or does it just skint you?

I did a long trip this weekend, pretty full up, and 2 bicycles on the back, averaged 36mpg on the way there. Went up a bit with driving on dirt roads round the estate. Averaged 34 by the time we got home

Hi all, thought I'd add my contribution.
Before "chipping" it would do on average 32.8 for mainly short trips (circa 4 miles).
Post chipping it's been doing 34.8 on the same short runs.
I've recently been to the south of France (with 2 bikes on the back) and have averaged 36. All of these figures via the trip computer.
I also - out of curiosity - keep an eye on miles done and miles left in tank, the best I've ever achieved for that is 698 for a "brimmed" (i.e. you can see the diesel in the bottom of the filler neck) tankful.
All figures are imperial (mpg or miles).

Did a round trip to Manchester and back over the weekend, approx 240 miles, computer average was 38.3mpg (the .3 makes a difference!), that was 95% motorway/dual carriageway at 70mph. Very chuffed with it actually, it's the first decent run I've had in the FL2 and it was such a dream to drive on the motorways!

A tale of two trips : Very Happy

Freelander 2 160 bhp Auto 400 mile plus round trip Halifax to Abergevenny , left very early cruised most of the way down at 55-60, used cruise control . Only one 15 minute crawl .very nice relaxed trip . Real world 39 mpg this compares with 28 being my wife's average , or slightly better 33 if I take it to go fishing up in the Dales.

Subaru Outback 150hp CVT auto. Symmetrical AWD . 2 days later , 400 plus round trip Halifax to Essex. Again early start, 70 mph all the way down to the M25 slowing to 50 for the Speed Check at roadworks. ( dead easy using Subaru's brilliant "Eyesight " stereo camera safety system with Adaptive Cruise and autonomous braking ). Kept it in auto all the way didn't Censored about paddle shifting. Real mileage was 49.5. General average on the 1300 miles a month i have been racking up has been around 39-40.

Mileage apart, I won't tell you which is the best vehicle to cover 400 miles in , I'll keep you guessing Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Firenze Red

Just driven from Hamilton to Inverness . Motorway or A9 all the way to Perth , sat at about 62mph all the way to Perth. From Perth to Inverness it's still the A9 but with only a few parts have dual carriageways for passing , again I tried to sit at about 62mph but some smart arse has come up with the great idea of restricting anything that is over 7.5t to 50mph . Anyway the mpg I got was 42 , at one point I was getting just over 43mpg but being stuck in a long que of traffic traveling behind a coach that was doing 50mph the freelander wasn't happy had was soaking up fuel. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!
