Upgrading Halogen headlights

I am considering upgrading the halogen headlights to something brighter (NOT BLUE). Can anyone advise me as to what would be best. I have seen some Philips WhiteVision H7 Xenon on Ebay and wondered whether they would be suitable. My FR2 is a 2013 SD4 HSE. Any help gratefully received.

Osram Nightbreakers are great Thumbs Up I have them in the Subaru high beams ( it has brilliant pure white LED dip - that's Japan for you !) In the Freelander 2 I have Phillips Xtreme Vision+ 130 on both beam and dip . The The Extreme vision are equally good, possibly , dare I say , a little better . The Whitevision you mention are an " aesthetic" bulb. They look xenon white to onlookers but at the expense of the extra distance you get from of the Extreme Vision and Osram Nightbreakers. You can get both brands on the link below, good company to deal with. Beware on eBay there are lots of fakes about

They are priced per pair Bob, so for example the Xtreme +130 are £40 for 4 with the 20% discount code : best money you can spend. Downside to these bulbs is there lifetime is about one quarter of a standard halogen.

Squint away Laughing , me id rather have the extra 15 or 20 yards of illumination. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Thanks for all your input guys. I have learned from "expensive" experience that buying cheap usually works out more expensive in the end, because you end up having to buy better to replace the cheap ones that fail, so... I shall look at the Osram Night Vision and probably save a little longer to get those. I haven't driven my Freely much at night yet but was not overly impressed with the existing lights and want to get something better before the darker days / longer nights descend upon us. Martyn, your extra information on being able to use them in both main and dipped lights was especially appreciated. Once again many thanks

This was were I looked and its near enough £90 but depends on your light unit as well I guess.

http://www.powerbulbs.com/product/xenon-x-...415-single

Used upgraded bulbs on my MY2011 from week one, not long before one popped and was not that impressed with the gain so not bothered with the MY13.

Still squinting and at the rate I keep finding camera vans ( Censored) in Yorkshire it may be immaterial as well.

Bit of story (I am good at boring folks with them) my father at one point was the service director for the then Aston Martin dealer from Yorkshire to I think then Scotland. Not many about so with any big job her personally tested most before the (very, very rich) owner got them back. The day the UK 70mph limit came in he took great pride in telling us he had just taken a Aston to 140 mph but remember as you throw your hands in the air there were not that many cars around in the working day then. I wonder were I got my love of speed from ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Hi Bob, that Xenon xtreme, is a replacement xenon bulb for cars that have standard bi-Xenon lamps. It will not fit into an every day H7 housing. At £90 it's not a bad price. before I became" full time unemployed " in May I took my company A4 for a replacement Xenon bulb and it was nearly twice that fitted .

honestly if you like driving fast , even without the sheep to dodge Rolling with laughter , upgraded halogens are the cheapest performance mod you can make if you want to go quick at night.

A good Bi Xenon is better still , but they will rapidly become obsolete to LED technology. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Correct. My 2013MY got the osram treatment. It had the Phillips bulbs fitted, and one popped. It seems as though the Osrams might be a bit long and scraping against the shutter, as it makes an awful noise when switching between dim and bright!
On the other hand, I don't see any improvement in light distribution.
