I am considering upgrading the halogen headlights to something brighter (NOT BLUE). Can anyone advise me as to what would be best. I have seen some Philips WhiteVision H7 Xenon on Ebay and wondered whether they would be suitable. My FR2 is a 2013 SD4 HSE. Any help gratefully received. |

Osram Nightbreakers are great I have them in the Subaru high beams ( it has brilliant pure white LED dip - that's Japan for you !) In the Freelander 2 I have Phillips Xtreme Vision+ 130 on both beam and dip . The The Extreme vision are equally good, possibly , dare I say , a little better . The Whitevision you mention are an " aesthetic" bulb. They look xenon white to onlookers but at the expense of the extra distance you get from of the Extreme Vision and Osram Nightbreakers. You can get both brands on the link below, good company to deal with. Beware on eBay there are lots of fakes about

Thanks for all your input guys. I have learned from "expensive" experience that buying cheap usually works out more expensive in the end, because you end up having to buy better to replace the cheap ones that fail, so... I shall look at the Osram Night Vision and probably save a little longer to get those. I haven't driven my Freely much at night yet but was not overly impressed with the existing lights and want to get something better before the darker days / longer nights descend upon us. Martyn, your extra information on being able to use them in both main and dipped lights was especially appreciated. Once again many thanks |

Hi Bob, that Xenon xtreme, is a replacement xenon bulb for cars that have standard bi-Xenon lamps. It will not fit into an every day H7 housing. At £90 it's not a bad price. before I became" full time unemployed " in May I took my company A4 for a replacement Xenon bulb and it was nearly twice that fitted .

Correct. My 2013MY got the osram treatment. It had the Phillips bulbs fitted, and one popped. It seems as though the Osrams might be a bit long and scraping against the shutter, as it makes an awful noise when switching between dim and bright! On the other hand, I don't see any improvement in light distribution. |
