Thanks Now have a new fuel filter in and an additional earth lead between battery and starter bolt. Let's see if it makes any difference. |

Hello. I'm due to take delivery of a 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS this week but have a concern. Although the test drive went pretty well, I found I couldn't get away quickly in first gear: on two occasions on busy roads where i had to move quick at junctions it sort of 'stalled'. The engine didn't cut but I had to quickly get into second to move on. The salesman said I'd get used to it but before I part with my money, can someone tell me if this is normal or is it a sign of a problem? Thanks. |

Without getting into a long winded story, the manual has a truncation map which reduces the torque available in first and reverse gears (manual only) to protect the clutch. If you are not familiar with driving a turbo diesel linked to what I've just outlined, then I would suggest that's all it is and once your familiar with the car you won't notice it as much. MY15

Hi Stuart. Good to know for me too. I bought the car on the phone without driving it. I have great confidence in my dealer, good relations for six years since I bought my D3 there. I drove several freelanders on loan and was impressed [MY 2009], but these were autoboxes. The stickshift 'reluctance' would have spooked me also. I never saw the MY2015 - as yours- until I started looking on the internet for recent Freelanders. The interieur is fab ! . But If I read the list of extra's on your car, I get a bit puzzled .

L359 Auto's have all 420nm available at all times there's also an "overboost" available under certain conditions. This in use with the Electronic Hand Brake (as i like to call "Launch control") which also disengages "neutral control function" means the auto can jump away from a standstill. Its very noticeable.
