FL2 carrying capacity

Does anyone have any idea of the carrying capacity of an FL2? I am doing a job in the garden and need some walling stone, you can collect it from the quarries where they weigh the car before and after and charge you so much a tonne. Assuming that I put some in the passenger footwell to balance it out I reckon that four passengers would come to about 360kg and plus their luggage should come to about 500kg. But is the the maximum?
The quarry is only about 10 miles away but the minimum charge for delivery is about £100 and I don't need more than a couple of tonnes. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Have carried 120, 150, 180 & 150 (a month later) second hand roof tiles at 3.2 kg each plus some dead weight behind the wheel of 85 kg! The car handled perfectly and the weight really didn't seem to make that much difference to acceleration off from the lights but I was not trying out any speed tests. 4 x 110 km round trips. I was extremely careful driving and also avoided Sydney's potholes and used better smoother roads which is a bit longer trip. Also tied the tiles back to the rear seat anchors. Also tried to have the weight forward as possible and as low as possible to keep it in the centre with some tiles in the passenger foot well.

I felt 150 was about the maximum I would do if doing it again. When I returned the supplier asked how many broke during transport. Not one, he could not believe it. Well what do you expect with a Freelander! I also looked how much the car dropped as I loaded it and was surprised how little it dropped considering the weight. Also checked the tire pressure as well.

I have carried about 500kg in the boot of my long gone 504. It had rear air shocks with onboard compressor which worked a treat.

Put a sheet of plywood down on the fibreglass boot floor to protect it. Also put some packers on the spare wheel to support the floor to spread the load. Old carpet, towels etc to protect the car. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

i picked up some top soil a year or so ago, this was pre bagged and I got about 18 bags at i would estimate 20+kg a bag, so about 360kg maybe more , this was the rear seats all down, with the bags stood one high covering the entire area

The car drove terrible, when i got home, i looked at the towbar and it was about 4" lower than normal

If you are needing a good amount, pay the delivery fee, or higher a van, so much easier, and thats from recent experience of landscaping my garden this year Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

You can carry as much as you like providing the axle loadings are not exceeded, it is about 500Kg depending on the model, HSE and Lux less than TD4S, you would need to stack more towards the front seat backs and less towards the tail gate. Providing you can achieve the above it is possible to legally exceed the GVM by 100Kg but restricted to a maximum of 60mph. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

There will be still plenty of room in the car with 500 kg of rock. As said above stack it as far forward as possible and move the front seats forward. You may not need a full fuel tank so you could save 30 kg or so.

In the manual, Towing Weights, Nose weight - Australia only 350 kg (On road). Personally I would rather 500 kg in the car as far forward as possible than 350 kg hanging off the back. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

With 2 allotments plus gardens my motor gets a very rough time in respect of weight and includes pulling a well loaded 5cwt trailer often. Car copes fine but expecting to pay for a full set of of shocks/struts sooner than the average owner. Rolling Eyes No idea what a modern caravan weighs in at as I am not of that tribe.

Car is fine inside and cleans up well as I have it all covered out with ground sheets on my work days (was full of wet mucky caving gear today). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I doubt it, I'm sure you are not thrashing the car when fully loaded, simply from a safety point of view.

If anyone is interested I went to the quarry and drove back with 390kg of stone on board according to the weighbridge. I had the back seats down and spread the stone towards the front and put some in the passenger footwell. Car felt and drove as normal although I did take it easy over bumps. Job's a good'n.
