(almost) felt sorry for Paras and infantry on a specialist course there.......

I was lucky enough to not do my basic trg there.. but my wife did , I'm down there alot now for shooting comps and various other training that could have been carried out 150 miles closer to home.. I do love travelling for hours on end to sit in a class room for a week doing training that could have been done in Derby or Nottingham..

I would hope it'll be a while until i'm there again, but I have lots of shooting comps in the spring

For 6 years on the trot my 07SE with 103,000 has sailed through MOT and has just passed again -cost £240 inc annual service.
For all of those years it has been serviced by local INDY garage (not a LR specialist), tows a caravan, regular trips to Europe regularly including the Alps in winter.
Original clutch, rear diff etc but air con compressor failed at 72,000 and have just replaced original battery.
Other than those items it has just been normal running/service costs
Great car and aim to keep it for a few more years yet. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Well this weekend I competed in the MacMillan 4x4
700 miles, 5 stages by day and night on forest tracks, over £1,200 raised by the two of us, more photos to follow

Just been to the Tyre fitters this morning for a brand New Set of Rubber had 4 Hankook Kinergy 4S H740 tyres fitted.
The tyres are the New All Season with added grip for snow ie snow flake and mountain peak symbol on side.
I was quite surprised how Quiet She drove after no transmission whine on the duel carriageway on the way home.
I Got a Grilling from the Mrs about the amount of Money I spent as it cost me £487.58 inc vat tyres cost £100.38 each plus 4x £1.20 casing Disposal.

Drove the Mrs and kids around Cornwall today stopped of at ASDA in Bodmin was shocked at seeing badly scrapped Freelander 2 parked there. One was so badly damaged on the front wing that it would have sliced a person in half if the passed to close to them. The Mrs was annoyed in me driving around trying to find a suitable safe place to park as mines scrape and dent free don't want to come back and find its been hit.
Nearly got caught out by the sneaky camera van hiding on the grass verge of the A30 almost concealed by a hedge.

I fitted the pair of genuine LR side steps I bought through the forum some 3 years ago Had them in the garage roof space all that time after I refurbed them (previous owner had nerfed the nearside step) and had fabricated a replacement No 4 bracket which was missing. I know they are not to everyone's taste but we actually need them now as Mrs D has some mobility problems & the step makes access to her place in the passenger seat a bit easier.

Yesterday I picked up a S/H set of 19" Triple Sport alloys shod with Continental Cross Contact UHPs.

Today I fitted them On a test drive I was surprised that there seemed to be less "bump/thump" from pot holes than with the previous 18" Pirellis. Also turn in is sharper. All in all, very pleased.

Yesterday I unwrapped a set of LED light bulbs, coded wing mirror covers, smoked side repeaters, clear high level brake light and facelift boot handle. Most will get fitted this weekend but the boot handle will be going to a mate in his bodyshop as he has all the tools and skills to remove trim and drill the new holes.

Also booked in to have new Bosch pad/discs/shoes fitted all round next week.

Im still looking for the right facelift front bumper and ancillaries..............
