Whilst I was in the shower this morning the wife decided it would be a good idea to warm her socks on top of the cast iron fire, forgot they were until I got out the shower & could smell burning! They we're not your average cotton sock, they were & after peeling them off it looks like melted plastic! I've tried to clean the top a bit more but there is still some on it, any suggestions on how to get this off , cheers guys |

wire wool then fire black to repair the colour.

Once removed, wire wool, emery cloth, wire brush, use any method, you can repaint with a propriety stove spray paint available from the manufacturer or stove outlet, even e-bay, ( stove black is a touch old fashioned) These paints cure when the stove heats up ( normally a bit of a whiff but not a health hazard) my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
