I thought I was all sorted but what PCheaven has said has caused me to hestitate. Basically I've also seen LR058023 listed as the correct part by some suppliers and as the being equivalent to LR066378

Hmmmmm

on the other hand ...

1. I tried a set of LR058023 (and they were emitting a signal as tested by an independent garage) but they did not work
2. Telco has fitted LR066378 to his Metropolis and they worked fine
3. Guy Salmon Stratford say LR066378 is the right part number and will just work without recourse to dealer set up

There must be some difference between LR058023 and LR066378, surely?.... or they would not be a different part number...

I'm still tempted to push ahead with LR066378

Update : part LR058023 works perfectly on my DS, the car picked up the tyre pressures within 5 minutes

The S1800520028C number is the same as the ones I have and if the FW931A159AB number is the same then yes those are the ones that emitted a signal but did not work on my Freelander

I know that LR058023 is listed by some people as being equivalent to LR066378 but I don't think they can be completely the same. Guy Salmon Stratford quote the latter and that's what I think I'm going to try next.

LR066378 is the correct part number for late model FL2.

There is a field within the CCF to select correct wheel/tyre size which tells the system the target pressure for the TPMS system.
This is an "unlocked" field so the dealer will be able to change the field for you when changing from
19's to 18's and visa versa.

You may be able to get away without changing this as there is only a 3psi target pressure difference and the system is only triggered with a 25% drop in pressure or a rapid pressure drop. Just means the system will be far more sensative to a drop in pressure on the 18's. MY15

Sorry for delay in replying mate. Thanks for this additional useful information to add to my understanding. As usual a bit more insight on here than the UK dealers give out.

Latest information here from UK dealers is as follows :

Guy Salmon Stratford say correct part number is LR066378
Guy Salmon Bristol say correct part number is LR070840
Strathstone Newport say correct part number is LR070840

(Strathstone told me that LR066378 was really for Evoque models)

Information from this site says that LR066378 works (you and one other person on here I think)

So 3 votes for LR066378 and 2 votes for LR070840.....probably they both work....

Guy Salmon Bristol say cost of supplying sensors, fitting and setting up for my 17in wheels (or 18 inch wheels) would be approximately £604+ with no guarantee that the system would work. The worrying thing was that they did not seem to know about this 'unlocked field' for the target pressure that you mention, hence I could spend my £604+ and still end up with a system that did not work...or...as you say would be very sensitive. Wish I lived near to your dealer in Perth!

Here's what I think I will do:

1. As soon as winter is over here in a week or so, I will put back on my 19 inch wheel tyres with the working TPMS
2. I will practice with dropping the pressures gradually from 35PSI to 32PSI (probably a PSI at a time to check sensitivity)
3. From your useful info about the 3PSI target pressure difference I will probably conclude that I would run happily on 32.5 PSI or even 32
4. Then I will buy just one new sensor (probably an LR070840)
5. I will get my 'tame' local tyre fitter (who does work for me at 'mates rates') to change one of my working sensors with the one new one I have bought, if this works it will prove that a) he can fit a sensor ok and b) the system does not need to be set up to work with a new sensor (some of the Land Rover dealers and the guys on here say the system should be able to set itself up.....)
6. If 5 is successful I will buy the complete set and fit to my 17 inch summer wheels/tyres

good luck with this little venture.

If you are anywhere near me (Kent) I have a set of 20's in the garage with TPMS you can take for a spin to see if they work.
You could also try 2 of my 18"'s for a few miles to see if they get detected - these have a different part number

just rock up with a jack and wheel brace and we can crack on.

Thanks PC, I may well take you up on that offer. I'm still very interested in the fact that the LR058023 worked on your DS but not my FL2. I wonder whether Kwikfit fitted mine incorrectly in some way or just one of them was not emitting a signal or something.

As I bought 2 sets at the time (from different suppliers, one for my 18 in and one for my 17 in wheels) I'm tempted to have a go with the second set as well since it's too late to send them back and they only cost £12 or so each.

I also wonder whether yours were really LR058023's (or just listed as such, you sent me photos but, of course, as we all know the actual LR part number is not printed on the sensors...that would be too helpful of Land Rover...bless them!)

Where did you get your LR058023's from? And was that listed as correct part number for DS?

May well yet be driving down to Kent to take you up on your offer (but don't worry I would give you lots of notice to gett he kettle on!)

looking back at the auction, the TPMS dont have a LR part number on.
Also the compatibility checker in the auction listing says they wont work with my DS, though when I checked here

I think you have misunderstood Gary.

The system is designed to trigger a warning under 2 conditions. A 25% reduction in overall tyre pressure or rapid deflation.

The TPMS will not trigger a warning at 33 or 32 psi as this is within the 25% allowance from target pressure 35psi for 19's.




The CCF field "Tyre sizes" has all the various sizes fitted to the Freelander 2 and will dictate the "target pressure".
This field is unlocked so the dealer can change it very easily for what size is fitted to the vehicle. MY15

Hi Stuart,

Have you worked out a way to display the tyre pressures on the information centre screen? 

No and yes still working on it.
Have got the pressure switch activated for heavy/light load but not the display as yet.



Will have some news shortly as I'm scanning another vehicle, hopefully it may have TPMS. It's very difficult as very few LR's have TPMS here as it optional and very few are brought into Australia with this option unless specially ordered which makes it difficult for me to find the right settings.
It's rather complex as there about 38 different TPMS settings and about 6 CCF Fields, so getting the right combination to display target pressure and actual pressures is complex and there's no manual on what setting does what.
It's a bit like needle in a haystack situation but I'm sure we'll crack it eventually.
Each time we get a little bit closer.
Will let you know.
Information is displayed in the driver configuration screen as it is currently, not the centre touchscreen.

E-mailed your eBay TPMS supplier. He says both LR066378 and LR070840 will work on my car.

He has a set of 4 brand new LR070840 sensors still in their LR packaging for the amazing price of £110.

I think I'm going to go for them
