I'm looking at late FL2's in metropolis spec. I don't like the wheels so I was thinking of changing them for new FL2 wheels. I assume as long as the new wheels come with the tyre pressure monitoring sensors then they would work with the FL2 without coding. If not then I would need to get the sensors moved from the current wheels to the new wheels, and they should still work? Hippo's videos - Honorary Tratterer |

TPMS was standards across all UK Freelanders! SE,SE Tech & Metropolis. If you own any of these models your car will not need programming MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Would an MY14 HSE Lux need programming for TPMS do you know? Instrumentation identical to SE Tech of same year.

Spatch - I believe TPMS was only on MY15 build.

How does the system work ? Does it become part of your MOT? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think the most difficult item would be the Initiators as they are wired into the main wiring loom, as you can see. An Amber warning light comes on and a pictogram of the offending wheel/spare on the driver information screen in the drivers binnacle so you have that also. I'm guessing it would be software/CCF. As I said the initiators are your biggest hurdle and how they feed back the signal. As it's a pretty integrated system I'm not sure how you'd retrofit without changing your wiring looms. But hey! Nothing like a challenge Let us know how you go and if you need any info, not that there's really much more to see than what I've shown already MY15 Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Surround Camera System InControl Apps soon to be replaced with CarPlay (WIP) Meridian Premium Surround Sound Digital Audio Broadcast Timed Climate Cruise ECO Data Follow Me Home Reverse Extra Features Menu Picture In Motion 4x4i screen (WIP) Digital Broadcast TV Meridian Rear Media with WIFI Factory Powered Tailgate Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) Reverse Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) Electrochromatic Wing Mirrors (WIP) |

I'm guessing it's not a legal requirement in the UK, unlike USA, therefore it wouldn't be a part of your MOT??? The sensor in each rim (including spare) detects pressure low/drop and sends a signal to the Initiators in each wheel arch which then signals which tyre(s) are low with a pictogram/respective wheel(s) narratives and Amber main warning light, basically. I remember reading somewhere that if your car has it fitted as standard from new then it becomes part of your MOT but I have never seen any confirmation.

Thanks for that. You are right in the fact that it is 'pretty integrated', I have been advised by my dealer that the system in not retrofittable! So that's that. |

I have a MY15 Metropolis with TPMS which came with the standard 19 inch wheels and on which TPMS seemed to work fine (i.e. it never complained or set up a warning).

I have a set of Evoque 19" rims fitted with my winter tyres. They came off an early 2011 launch model evoque with TPMS spec'ed. They worked from fitting, I didn't have to code them or wake them up. The wheels had been sat for about 6 months if not longer so not sure about how they go to sleep.
