A relative of mine went from Devon to Lazenby in Cumbria to buy some sheep. When he got there he couldn't find the place he was after and called the guy he was meeting and after a long discussion discovered that he should have gone to Lazonby, about 80 miles away. I didn't ask if he used a sat nav. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Never use them, a quick look at the map before I set off just get road numbers, junction numbers etc. I have to memorise routes/shortcuts as part of my job so I've never had to rely on sat nav.

Fairly frequently on business. It is not so much for the main route but detail when you get near to where you are going. A lot of my clients will be on estates where the road system is often like a rabbit warren. I also find the journey time and ETA is normally fairly accurate. They are also useful, particularly on country roads showing where you have road junctions just after bends. Remember there are never problems, just new challenges |

There must be a few "My Hermes" part timers on here judging by the poll results. 40% of repondents use them either daily or weekly MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I'd be interested to know what magnification you have yours on when NOT routing, I have mine on 1/2 mile as I like to have the 'B' roads showing as well, but even this does not show minor roads and zooming in any further gives too small a map area. |

I use mine whenever I am in the car, although it is not the builtin one in my 2007 SE - that is useless.

I use mine for most non-regular journeys, even if I know the way.

Having spent most of my working life routing abnormal loads all over the UK and mainly Scotland I have a great regard for maps. Used to update OS maps and had a cabinet full. Still use maps and my TomTom. If not in a hurray just follow the satnav and see parts of the country you would not normally see. Combined withe the voice of Billy Connolly giving directions makes a good drive. Also point about speed shown is excellent.
