Digit 10 is the number in front of H, and mine is 7 (the car's production DATE: 11-05-2007) .. so it is correct.
One should thus look at what is highlighted here:

The only VIN characters you need to worry about when comparing your vehicle to the recall letter are positions 12 to 17 - All the numbers after 'H'.

If you are unsure, do as Frobius suggests and telephone the helpline.


Positions 6 and 7 bear no relation to the recall as they only identify body style (passenger car or commercial) and transmission/steering (man, auto / rhd,lhd) - so I understand ...

Mine is a Spanish market model and LR UK was able to tell me that it is indeed fitted with the heater. Strange fault this - if it fails the car gets very very hot, not colder!  2007 FL2 SE Diesel Auto

Going in later today to Farnell Guiseley to have my fuse removed.
If anybody interested, the letter was from Steve Cafearo, Customer Service Operations Manager at Gaydon.
Will have to wait and see how long the replacement heater takes to arrive.

Yesterday I asked my Norwegian dealer/service station about the recall, but he had not heard about it, but would check with LR whan I explained what it concerned  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

3 degrees C this morning and I realised what a useful piece of kit the PTC heater is. It took 2 or 3 miles before the fan kicked in with some warmish air. Thank goodness for heated seats. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Yep 1c in Devon this morning. I think with the control on auto the fan will not kick in until the engine warms, thus stopping cold air being blown all over you. I find that if you switch to manual and make the nice fairground lights come on the fan will kick in so you get warm air a bit quicker than waiting for the car to decide.
I agree, for heated seats!

Recall was done on Monday.............for the second day running woke up to a frost and no heated seats  ______________________

I didn't realise the heated seats don't work when the fuse is removed, thought it was just the booster heater.
