Tip! Before you fit them paint the centre hub with a heat proof high temp silver paint like the standard factory fit items or you will see an ugly chunk of rust when you look through the wheel?

I don't need to do that. mTech offer the discs in three different painted colours, silver, black or gold. So I have gone for the silver finish. Thumbs Up

£14.99 extra per pair, so it was an easy decision. When I saw my old FL2 before Christmas, it still had the mTech brakes I fitted almost 3 1/2 years ago and they still looked nice and silver! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. The weather forecast isn't very good for tomorrow, so I had half an hour or so to do this conversion today.

Pretty easy to be honest. Just the same as swapping discs and pads as normal. But you have to swap the carriers.

The discs now site nice and snug into the back plate. I'll be off out for a bed in drive later.

Here's the pics!

nice, what sort of cost at you looking at, for all bits and piece?

Mines due a brake pad change soon, so whilst they are off it maybe worth the upgrade Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

£32 for the carriers off eBay, they guy has quite a few sets apparently.
£102 delivered for the discs, inc VAT and postage from mTech. £15 less if you don't want the painted versions.
£75 for pads. Genuine LR inc 15% discount.

I'm going to have to do my front discs this year anyway, so I may well have a look at this upgrade. Thanks for posting the details.

Looks good Thumbs Up
Are they easy enough to do on the FL2?
Any special tools required?
Oh and what about the dust shields, did you have to get a larger set or are the standard ones big enough to accommodate?

Please report on the performance versus standard once they bed in.

You got a link for the carriers?

Fitted a full set of four M Tech drilled and grooved discs to my last car.
But made the mistake of not ordering the hub pre-painted [I did it myself though with Hammerite]
Was very happy with them. Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Are they easy enough to do on the FL2? - Yes, about 40 minutes to an hour.

Any special tools required? - Nothing more than you would need to do a normal brake change.

Oh and what about the dust shields, did you have to get a larger set or are the standard ones big enough to accommodate? - Original dust shields do not require replacing.

You got a link for the carriers? - I have e-mailed the guy to see if he has more as the listing is not there now. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

You need to paint the calipers yellow so that people will think you have ceramic brakes (like they have on some Porsches and Ferraris ) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
