No spec change was made to any model year. The brakes have always been the same. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

Your looking way too deep into things. Suspension on the FL2 is identical not matter what engine, spec or transmission your running. You will not shorten life in any component by upgrading the brakes. If anything, under normal driving conditions your likely to go through less brake components with the uograde than you would on standard brakes, as the system is more efficient with the bigger discs. Car durability testing during development puts a car through such extreme situations that we as drivers would never ever be able to replicate such situations during the everyday use that we normally do. Is is why cars now are so much better than 25 years ago. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come......... |

I stumbled across a Youtube video from Powerful UK this afternoon concerning fitting i6 discs and caliper carrier to the diesel Freelander 2. It states that's all that changes - the pads are the same.

I find the brakes on mine are fine and feel I do not need to go off spec, kept fully serviced with perfect working faces etc the car flew through the MOT last week.

Do we have a part number for the OEM discs & pads as discussed here? |

OEM part number for the discs is LR027107, although if you Google the number you'll get OEM and non-original parts come up under the same search. Looks like some sellers are discounting old stock so you could pick up a good deal.

I have just done this upgrade, haven't noticed any difference in performance however I think it's worth doing given how reasonable the calliper carriers are.

In order to do the rears you'll need new calipers. I'm sure you could buy the front carriers from LR, got mine on eBay via the link on here. |
