two reviews from previous happy customers:-

1.Overall not very good if you want it to keep you warm. You can feel the heat if you put your hand right next to it but doesnt really warm up your car very much. It cant be used to defrost car either-its just does not blow enough warm air. This was one of the most powerful in car heaters I could find (200W) and if this didnt work very well I cant see how any heater of any less power can do anything

2.If you need some heat try the Koolatron 160W, more heat & more likely to de-frost your screen in time! This heater fit for the bin.

Heater Fuse

I can confirm its only a fuse that is removed. Had mine in today for a broken rear wiper to be fixed. They refered to the P011 recall/bulitin and also said parts available January 09 Freelander 2 XS 2.2 TD4 Met Black, with Winter pack, 18" alloys with General Grabber AT2 wellies, MANTEC Sump and Tank Guards

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

Well I just got my letter today, came from the Lease company (Lombard).

I'm thinking of ignoring it for a couple of months, until winter passes.

Symptoms of fault are
- flat battery - I've got jump leads
- Distinct smell from hot components - i should recognise that one.

So in my view not really worth a trip to the dealer in the short term, particularly if all they are going to do is take a fuse out.

Now if the dealer was offering to sort it out, and loan me a test vehicle for the day, now that would be different.

What a farce!!

Additionally, the short circuit may lead to a distinct smell from hot/melted components which in extreme circumstances may develop into a fire. It is noted that, all of the above symptoms can occur when the vehicle is in use, or parked unattended.
Remedial Action : Authorised repairers will disable the PTC operation until such time as replacement parts of the latest specification become available.

According to the letter, the replacement part SHOULD be available early 2009............we'll see, prbably more like next autumn is my guess.

In the meantime, we just have to freeze our Censored off Evil or Very Mad ______________________
