England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Zermatt Silver
A newer model

Nope, not the wife, but I am tempted to replace my 90k miles, 2009 SE with a newer model. I was spoilt a bit with my current FL2 as it has a few factor fitted extras which I like but I've seen a Black Edition which looks pristine within my price range.

I know the Black Edition is really just an S with a few additions but is it worth getting a 2013 model with 24k miles on it. And then start doing it up like retro fitting a sat nav unit maybe and putting side steps on it. Really dark rear windows would look nice as well. Decisions decisions.

By the way where has that terrain select knob thingy gone to?

S models don't get the terrain response or any of the steering wheel controls. Im not sure if it still has Bluetooth hands free though.

also with a 13 plate facelift model the dash is completely different and you don't get the cubby box as in pre 2013 models to retro fit a satnav into.

Personally, I would go slightly older and get a higher spec FL2. Whats your Budget? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

That should see you getting a nice XS around a 60 plate. My friend has just bought a 61 plate XS with a lot of Options for £17k from an LR dealer. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

ive just picked up a 10 plate TD4 HSE Premium with fill LR history from a Jaguar dealer for a little bit less than your budget.

you should get an 11 plate or 61 plate XS for your budget which will be comparable to your SE spec.

FL2 do seem to be holding their value exceptionally well at the minute

Freelander 2 Prices have for sure risen over the past few months.

I think the Disco Sport is actually helping Freelander Prices! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I always treat rising prices with a pinch of salt.

It's like house prices isn't it - everyone thinks its great if your house rises 10%+. Ermmm it's all relative if you are looking to purchase a new property 'cos that will have risen as well.

Anyway thanks to all of you for your advice. I'm off car hunting now.

Do I want another Freelander! Censored

Yup

My strategy was to get the latest Pre-DPF one that was within budget and was XS or higher spec.

Mine is a TD4 160bhp pre DPF, built Jan 2010 and sold Mar 2010. Auto, premium everything and with full LR main dealer history, 68k on the clock. Bought it just before Xmas.

So your 15k sounds like it will definitely get what you want. Thumbs Up

I had a quick look last night. Prerequisits are 4 years, 50 mile radius of Leeds, 60k or less

Landrover Approved used - 1 x GS 61 plate with 57k
Autotrader - 2 x GS, 12 plates around 50k

All just under £15k

It's a start I suppose

If you buy private you can get a good deal.
we bought a 62 plate XS (face lift model) back in August. it had done 33k and still had warranty untill January.
Paid £17250. we could not find one for less than £21k at Land rover at the time.

My son just traded in a 60 plate GS manual with 78k miles for £9k at a Mitsubishi dealer. It's in a filthy state as it's a working car (full of mud inside and out) but the guy looked it up and quoted £9k then when we took it in he didn't even walk around it. He just got in started it up, reved it once and said fine. Interestingly when I did the same exercise at a LR dealer they crawled all over it and came up with a slightly lower figure. The thing I have found about valuing cars is that there is no upside, you get the book price regardless of having fitted new disc/pads/tyres or any other improvements. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

I mostly agree with you there Dorsetfreelander but when I sold my 08 plate GS Manual in July, I got top book price for it mostly due to it having the panoramic roof, roof rails, nearly new AT tyres and a parrot hands free.

The dealer even said that the price was based on a standard GS model but due to all the extras it would be easier for them to sell on as they made the car more attractive to buyers. Hence they gave me top book price.

For interest purposes they gave me £7300 for it, had to do a full wheel arch dent fix and respray due to previous owners dinging it, and then sold it on for £9200 with warranty.
