Wiper stalk

My son is complaining that his FL2 wiper stalk isn't working properly, ie intermittent or no wipers or washers. Is it easy to take it out and have a look at it or check the connections? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had a look this morning and the rear squirter is OK but nothing from the front, not even pump noise. As its technically illegal to drive without working windscreen washers I have called out LR Assist. They offered to come this evening but I declined as it would be dark so they are coming in the morning - should be interesting. I will get him to have a look at a few other problems whilst here. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Hi Dorset
How did you get on with LR assist? I have just experienced a similar problem. Yesterday they stopped working mid sweep on auto, tried single/slow/fast and wash and getting nothing but the rear wash and wipe were OK. Parked the car up and when went to check it out about 30mins later still nothing 'till I put it up to fast wipe and then everything working.

Took it a run and everything worked fine but this morning it would only work on fast wipe but the washers did work. At work and won't have time to check it tonight.

No problem, the LR Assist guy had a look and said yes you need a new stalk it will have to go to the dealers, asked me where I wanted it done and said can you take it in tomorrow? I could so about an hour later (this is Sunday morning) someone called to say that there would be a hire car at the dealers by 1130 the next morning and asked for driver licence and NI numbers for insurance . I had another call the next morning confirming everything and when I got to the dealers there was an HSE DS waiting for me. That was on the Monday and I picked the car up on Wednesday morning. Total bill came to about £160 and I wasn't asked for anything and I asked them to check out a couple of minor issues whilst it was in.

Then follow up calls from dealer and emails about service levels etc.

I think that calling out LR assist is like walking into A&E and getting priority medical treatment. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Thanks for the update Dorset. Working fine again on drive home last night and again to work this morning. By that I mean no worse than usual with auto wipe. Always wants to be on constant wipe in light drizzle and then when it comes on heavy it likes to leave it for 10secs till you can't see out and have to manual over ride Evil or Very Mad
