HDC Fault - think I have broken it :(

My spotlights are switch on by a rely which is triggered from the main beam wire from the passenger side headlight.

I wanted to test them using a switch instead and wire messing about accidently feed a 12v feed into the main beam wire.

I heard a quick noise so checked the side light and the LHS is no longer working as well as the headlight.

I then tried to start the car and it will not start :9 The warning triangle is illuminated on the dash and a message HDC Fault on the screen in the dash.

Hmmmm me thinks, Censored somit. I then connect my ODBII reader and its says there is no link.

I have checked the fuses under the bonnet next to the battery plus the ones behind the glove box and they seem all ok.

Battery is showing 12v

So any idea what next to test?

Very first thing I'd be doing is a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight.

Then, once you've reconnected it in the morning you can start fault finding.

Check F17 and F18 from the engine room fuse box.
They are 60 amps so they look a little different.
Take them out and check thoroughly, with a multimeter, not just visually.

Nope.

You'll have to reset the "one touch close" electric windows, but that's easy enough (just do a search as I can't remember the button press sequence off the top of my head).

Everything else will be fine.

Out of interest why does it need to left overnight?

If thtas the fuebox next to the battery there are no 60A fuses

A little more info. To get the power for the relay it will go thro a switch I have installed inside the vehicle. All I needed was a 12v power supply to the switch and then onto the realy. I found a 12v supply under the seat, the is a large connector block held in with a screw and one if the small brown wires going to it had a 12v supply. The is what I fed, accidentally to the main bean circut. Now there is now 12v supply coming out of that wire which would suggest a fuse but I have visably checked all the fuses, boot, passenger footwell and engine bay.

It doesn't particularly - just for a while to allow any residual current in any systems to dissipate.

Given the time of day, "overnight" just seemed natural. 30 mins or so should easily do the trick......

Update

Rechecked the fuses in the passenger compartment with a multi meter and found 1 5amp fuse blown, so replaced it but still not starting. Also notices my feed I was going to use now has 12 volts again.

Bettery now at 11.5v so disconnected it and put my battery condition onto the battery and will see what happens tomorrow

Possibly powered the canbus. Feed the high beam wire a 12v feed

Somehow me thinks this will not be a cheap fix Sad

Go and look again for the 60Amp fuses as Alex said. He knows what he is talking about and they ARE there. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

The 60A fuses are under a cover on the battery side of the fuse box and are vertical,

See my posting at http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic24830.html for pictures.
