United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

I'm always meaning to have a go at brewing beer, but never seem to get round to it. I live in the perfect place for it too, with Warminster Maltings just down the road. Smile Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame

I am not quite sure which of those yeasts you are referring to cqr but I would not use any turbo style yeast in beer or cider as they are intended to ferment high alcohol "washes" which are then distilled into vodka, yeasts produce some of the flavour of beer and the taste these yeast produce is just plain nasty.

Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick but I would rather post a warning rather than have someone ruin a brew

Festival Pride Of London Porter is one of the many kits produced by Richies and as such should be a nice beer, if you want a strong IPA check out bull Dog Brews Evil Dog double IPA produced by Hamilton Bard this kit reaches 7.1% ABV and gets some good reviews.

I am kegging up the first extract kit I have made in years today this being Bulldog Brews Imperial red, I had a taste a few days ago when I took a sample to get a gravity reading and before the dry hops went in, it was very nice with the alcohol being quite prevalent in the the mouth this I hope will be hidden by the hop additions, at point of sample it was about 7.8 % ABV and it has fermented slowly since but now stopped so it may of reached 8 % ABV now but at this strength it will not mature for several months I will let you know my initial thought later as to what it is like as a "green" beer.

Edit
Well its in the keg now it made 8% ABV the alcohol taste has gone leaving it nice and hoppy with a slightly sweet after taste the wife who is not a beer drinker loves it as do I, this kit can only get better with age so I am now hunting for the all grain recipe to give that a go.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

Been brewing on and off for years. Having read through the past posts there's one thing I'd strongly recommend and that's to draw off the water 24hrs before adding to the brew. Water companies add chlorine and this can spoil the final brew so allow time for it to dissipate. At times I've drawn off water and it's smelt like a swimming pool. 11 GS Bali Blue
07 GS FL2. Usually muddy. Gone
Numerous LRs since 1963
