I'm always meaning to have a go at brewing beer, but never seem to get round to it. I live in the perfect place for it too, with Warminster Maltings just down the road. Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame

I am not quite sure which of those yeasts you are referring to cqr but I would not use any turbo style yeast in beer or cider as they are intended to ferment high alcohol "washes" which are then distilled into vodka, yeasts produce some of the flavour of beer and the taste these yeast produce is just plain nasty.

Festival Pride Of London Porter is one of the many kits produced by Richies and as such should be a nice beer, if you want a strong IPA check out bull Dog Brews Evil Dog double IPA produced by Hamilton Bard this kit reaches 7.1% ABV and gets some good reviews.

Been brewing on and off for years. Having read through the past posts there's one thing I'd strongly recommend and that's to draw off the water 24hrs before adding to the brew. Water companies add chlorine and this can spoil the final brew so allow time for it to dissipate. At times I've drawn off water and it's smelt like a swimming pool. 11 GS Bali Blue
