I've also done the cambelt....

But in my case, I've changed all the parts found there: cambelt, idler, tensioner, water pump - so the parts price was greater.
I didn't wanted to have later problems with any old parts so, once I've reached there, I've changed them all.

The manufacturer says 10 years or 240.000 km, but I've thought it's too much.
I've changed at 80.000 km and 7 years also because the belt started to track a little to the left and started to make some funny whoosh sounds at cold. All this because of the tensioner, I believe. Although the belt condition was OK, also the idler and the water pump.

Now all seems to be OK, new belt tracks OK and no extraneous sounds, warm or cold.

I agree that the time seems too long, this is one of my next jobs and will be doing the water pump as well.

Done a few of these belts in my time, nothing particularly difficult about it

I do agree with the previous comment, about replacing the belt, idler, tensioner and water pump all at once, and is exactly what I'll be doing when I replace my own belt Thumbs Up

I recently fitted a complete new Gates kit (belt, tensioner, idler and pump) and auxiliary belt.
I noticed there are quite a few kits available by different manufacturers which did you choose?

Regards

For what it's worth I will be doing the cambelt/waterpump/drive belt on my wife's Peugeot soon so I looked on Eurocarparts and saw a variety of items offered. I didn't know which brand to go for so I called the local Peugeot dealer who quoted for genuine Peugeot parts kit at a lower price so don't always assume that other suppliers are cheaper. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
