Looking more and more so. Fitted the final camera up and had to muck about pulling wires back and forth as I'd fitted one the wrong way round. Used the 'right way round' cable to partially draw through, got stuck, give it a good yank, ended up taking roof tiles off to free the cables. Got it sorted, temporary setup, new camera working, old camera not! Think I've broke the wire yanking it. Had enough for today, been on it since 5.30. Going to have my tea and leave it till the weekend. I am getting fed up. My sons just come in laughing his head off - apparently him and his mates were laughing at me in the pub when I switched the wifi on and was up the ladder adjusting the camera. He picked it up on his phone. Oh ha bloody ha. Wife will no doubt find it funny (not) when she gets in - one step forward, two steps back. I'm a right messy worker and I normally break something when I'm fixing something else. Charlie Cairoli she calls me. Google him, kids. Whistle

At least it's still working. This iPhone 6 is the most awkward phone that I've ever had to hold - I'm always dropping it. Think I might go back to a 5.

May I humbly suggest a Lumia 930? Most excellent in all ways! Thumbs Up ...

Latest update: I've definitely Censored one of the cables up so have ordered another one off the 'bay.

Off to the Apple Store in a moment - apparently I need to see a 'Genius' to get my screen fixed.

Here you go, day and night pics: I have some settings when connected to a monitor to adjust the colour, hue, saturation etc but I haven't touched any of those yet, I'll wait until I get the other cable and give it some final tweaks. I do have one if those new LED street lamps outside my house just in front of the Golf.

from these photos i deduce that the neighbour left the house between 18:49 & 20:00hrs on Saturday in the car parked on the top right of the frame, the garden clearly shows that the Teddy bear was there at 18:48 but had gone by 20:02hrs Saturday evening. I will prove that this in fact gave the teddy bear thief enough time to take the bear off the clothes line, get in their car and drive off Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Well, I got my replacement cable today and up I went, roof tiles off again, threaded the cable, connected it up and.....only two cameras working! Darn! Fiddled and farted about and was just about to give up and decide CCTV was not my forte when I saw that when I was stumbling about in the loft I must have trod on one of the cables and half pulled the plug out that powered two of the cameras. Pushed it in and everything was sorted.

I now see what they meant amount the spider spray. One spider built a web over one of the cameras (I ran the dvr back and sat and watched it spin its web - sad, I know). I got my extendable window cleaning pole and taped the fluffy duster on it that the wife uses for spider webs indoors and cleared it and the pesky thing had built it again by the next evening! And again the following evening! Persistent little sod. Anyway, my Spiderx arrived today so while I was up there connecting the wires I cleared the web yet again and I gave it a good spray around the camera. As I did, Mr (or Mrs) spider popped out from the eaves and dropped all the way down to the ground on a thread. That'll teach it! Mind you, that stuff doesn't half get down your throat though - I'll wear a mask next time I apply it.

Here's my final screenshots showing the troublesome web and 4 cameras working.

Just fitted another one in my garage at work. A new 8 channel DVR and 4 cameras - I also added v4 of my old cameras. Swann again. They're not bad for the money (Paid £259 for this kit but only because they were out of stock of the £199 kits at Maplins!) and so easy to fit and connect for remote viewing.

My first success!

Came in this morning to find a big sack of rubbish had been dumped on the area where I normally park my scooter. I ran the CCTV back and saw it being placed there by a local resident. He was only across the road, and his house is just in the top left of the picture with the scooter in it. He got it all back but unfortunately the bag, ahem, 'split' as I got to his front porch. Oh well, it'll give hime something to pick up before he goes to the Mosque for Friday prayers later. Whistle Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

As long as tomorrow your scooter isnt on the rubbish heap in the area he leaves his youll be ok. Laughing

You might have been better having a quiet word with him face to face and told him the correct way we do it in the UK, if you can see his face that is, this is how the war of neighbourhood disputes starts if youre not careful.

I'm not going to mess about and tell him "Look here, old chap. That's just not cricket over here". I haven't got a problem with starting a dispute with someone who has two wheelie bins outside his house but wants to dump his Censored nappies on my property. I could have easily passed his details plus CCTV footage onto the local council who go to the trouble of publishing pictures in their fortnightly news letter asking for help identifying fly-tipping individuals.

I think he's got off light - for a brief moment I considered wiping the contents of those nappies all over his front door! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

WAHAYYY!

Another success!!!

Just stopped a couple of chavs from stealing my scooter that was parked on the front. I run out and confronted him. He legged it down the road and his mate made off on their scooter. He didn't get away entirely scot-free. They've broken my steering lock and ignition switch though. The Censored !

This CCTV is paying dividends.

Dunno if this link will work.

Don't mean to bang on about the usefulness of this but today, again, it saved my bacon. Servicing a car, we quickly removed the wheels, saw that it needed new pads, put the wheels back on and parked it outside to get another car in while we waited for the pads and service bits to be done. The parts arrived, pulled the car back in and could we find the locking nut key? Could we heck! Turned the garage upside down, looked for about an hour and checked everywhere three times. A mate called in for a cuppa and said "Why don't you check the CCTV"? So we did. We saw one of my students playing with the nut for about 30 minutes and then offer the locking key to me, I told him to put it on the tyre balancer. Then we saw me get a tool out, put it on the balancer and knock it off the balancer - right into the water can!!!! Can now get on with the service and pads but wait till I see that kid next week. He swore blind that he hadn't even seen it as I took the wheels off and put them back on. Kids, eh! Rolling Eyes Laughing Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
