Looking more and more so. Fitted the final camera up and had to muck about pulling wires back and forth as I'd fitted one the wrong way round. Used the 'right way round' cable to partially draw through, got stuck, give it a good yank, ended up taking roof tiles off to free the cables. Got it sorted, temporary setup, new camera working, old camera not! Think I've broke the wire yanking it. Had enough for today, been on it since 5.30. Going to have my tea and leave it till the weekend. I am getting fed up. My sons just come in laughing his head off - apparently him and his mates were laughing at me in the pub when I switched the wifi on and was up the ladder adjusting the camera. He picked it up on his phone. Oh ha bloody ha. Wife will no doubt find it funny (not) when she gets in - one step forward, two steps back. I'm a right messy worker and I normally break something when I'm fixing something else. Charlie Cairoli she calls me. Google him, kids. |

Here you go, day and night pics: I have some settings when connected to a monitor to adjust the colour, hue, saturation etc but I haven't touched any of those yet, I'll wait until I get the other cable and give it some final tweaks. I do have one if those new LED street lamps outside my house just in front of the Golf.

Well, I got my replacement cable today and up I went, roof tiles off again, threaded the cable, connected it up and.....only two cameras working! Darn! Fiddled and farted about and was just about to give up and decide CCTV was not my forte when I saw that when I was stumbling about in the loft I must have trod on one of the cables and half pulled the plug out that powered two of the cameras. Pushed it in and everything was sorted.

Just fitted another one in my garage at work. A new 8 channel DVR and 4 cameras - I also added v4 of my old cameras. Swann again. They're not bad for the money (Paid £259 for this kit but only because they were out of stock of the £199 kits at Maplins!) and so easy to fit and connect for remote viewing.

I'm not going to mess about and tell him "Look here, old chap. That's just not cricket over here". I haven't got a problem with starting a dispute with someone who has two wheelie bins outside his house but wants to dump his |

Don't mean to bang on about the usefulness of this but today, again, it saved my bacon. Servicing a car, we quickly removed the wheels, saw that it needed new pads, put the wheels back on and parked it outside to get another car in while we waited for the pads and service bits to be done. The parts arrived, pulled the car back in and could we find the locking nut key? Could we heck! Turned the garage upside down, looked for about an hour and checked everywhere three times. A mate called in for a cuppa and said "Why don't you check the CCTV"? So we did. We saw one of my students playing with the nut for about 30 minutes and then offer the locking key to me, I told him to put it on the tyre balancer. Then we saw me get a tool out, put it on the balancer and knock it off the balancer - right into the water can!!!! Can now get on with the service and pads but wait till I see that kid next week. He swore blind that he hadn't even seen it as I took the wheels off and put them back on. Kids, eh! |
