Whats the best way to fix a tear/split in the side of the seat. It is not the back bolster but the side of the seat base. Probably due to an overweight previous owner. There are a couple close together around 3 to 4 inches in length.

Take it to a professional - car trimmer or upholsterer -amazing what the experts can do

Gently squeeze some superglue into the split and gently push the trim together against the foam
Careful to keep the superglue on the inside of the seat as it goes white if left to set on the outside of the black seat trim
It makes a flawless finish, did it to two small tears on mine when I bought the car and you can't even see them now a year on - FL2 3.2 i6 - There is no Replacement for Displacement

Think it is a bit past superglue. And I know I would end up with the glue everywhere. Have attached a photo to show problem.

Mine needs doing too,it's next on my "to do"list,along with having my steering wheel re-covered.Downside is that to do both jobs by local upholsterer would mean being without my car for a couple of days.

Not only to do with weight, more to do with the vertically challenged, sliding off the seat rather than stepping out, of course if you're short and fat there is no hope
