Land Rover Motor Insurance w. Original Insurance Services

Just had a great time getting and cancelling Land Rover Insurance.

My current insurance runs out on the 4th and I have an LR Experience Day on the 6th. Ooops
The Insurance company had changed the underwriters and I was covered for off-road use up to the 4th and not after.

Thanks to Adrian Flux I now have insurance for the event.

But how can a company providing Insurance for Land Rovers not cover Off-road use ? FL2 HSE 2.2 TD4 MY07 Sumatra Black
Packs - Bi-Xenon Lights, Heated Windscreen, Heated Memory Seats, Privacy Glass, Fuel Heater, Armrests, Towbar

Don't the Land Rover Experience use their vehicles rather than expect customers to use their own for the off road day? Without seeing what the insurance cover I can't comment on the off road use, I know mine does not cover me for trailing or off road events.

What exactly is off road insurance? Are you saying that if I drive across a field and hit another vehicle or object that I might not be covered by normal insurance? I can understand that driving in an event might be an issue, but are farmers and agricultural workers only covered by their farm/employers' insurances when off road? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Can you let us all know exactly what Land Rover Insurance said as I understand that driving "off road" to access your destination (in my case Forestry Commission tracks to reach an off course marshalling point is OK.)

BUT taking part in (Quote from Insurance Certificate) "The Policy does not cover for use on an off-road 4x4 event"
which I understand to be a competitive event.

So as presumable no timing or other type of scoring is involved in the LRE event you should be covered.
Please get back to us and then I can investigate further through my contacts at LRE. Thumbs Up

I spoke to LR insurance and was told by a minion that I was not covered for a LR Experience Trek Day.

Quote from certificate
The Policy does not cover: Use for any business purposes, commercial travelling, motor trade, hiring, carrying passengers for reward, racing or speed testing, time trials, track days, rallies or 4 x 4 off road events, on the Nurburgring Nordschleife or any race track, racing circuit or prepared course.

LR Insurance used to cover this form of off road event but as mentioned the underwriter has chosen to exclude all events whether trek or track and specifically a German track which can be driven around quite fast.

It is required by LRE to have an insurance policy that covers you off road.
Looking forward to testing my FL2 on Exmoor this weekend. FL2 HSE 2.2 TD4 MY07 Sumatra Black

My LRE contact is looking in to this issue, so will report back if and when I have any new info.

Well, LRE Trek Day done and quite a few others were discussing insurance problems.

Amazing day out. My FL2 had no problems on the off road sections but some ruts were a bit deep and the FL2s and Discovery Sports both were touching underneath.

I wouldn't have liked to take a shiny new Disco Sport as a few new scratches are visible on the bodywork of my FL2. FL2 HSE 2.2 TD4 MY07 Sumatra Black
