It does vary depending on the year of the vehicle but for us FL owners, the 2001 on regs apply. As an MOT tester I can definately confirm that you DO NOT need to have the makers name and postcode as per BS AU 145d to pass the test. As long as you have the correct background, font, spacing etc that is fine. However, if you have one marked up with BS AU 145d, that will comply.

Here's a link. A vehicle can ONLY be failed on something in the Reason for Refusal section. Thumbs Up

Our local bus (BU5 2 ELY) doesn't seem to get stopped. Confused
As far as having the info on the plate goes, yes it will pass the MoT and no you probably won't get stopped for it. But if Mr Plod stops you for whatever reason and starts to look for things to throw at you, he WILL get you. And never forget the neighbour with a grudge who is such a good citizen that he insists the police do something about it. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Interesting....

I had my old Ford Focus failed on exactly that - ie no manufacturer/postcode on plates and so the plates were deemed unroadworthy......

This was back in 2008 though - perhaps the regs (or my memory) has changed since?

Yes, that was the rules back then and you needed the V5 and personal I.D. just to buy a numberplate from a licensed supplier. They relaxed the rules a year or two ago.
