Recall???

I've just had my local LR service centre on the phone advising me of a urgent recall on FL2's.

The tech told me that there is a possibility of condensation forming in the auxilliary heater which could lead to a short and potential fire.

He said LR are sending out letters but they were phoning all their customers now to disconnect the unit until the revised part is available from LR.

Very good service NOT form the dealer where I bought it but has anyone else heard this yet??

Yeah, I had Team Valley Land Rover Service Centre on the phone too regarding the recall.

Popped in this afternoon, took about 15 minutes for them to disconnect the auxillary heater and they will ring when replacement part in.

Great service Very Happy would recommend them to anyone in North East, had sunroof recall and rear lens replaced (condensation) there too, would't take my precious to the main stealers. Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

Took my LR2 in about a month ago for an emissions service recall along with routine maintenance after getting a letter from Land Rover, though that's all the information I have. Wonder if it's the same thing.

So two of us so far have had a phone call from the same service centre but not one LR DEALERSHIP has contacted a member by phone? Shocked

I'm going on friday morning for it to be done. As already said it's only 15 mins out of my life!!!

I'll quiz them more then and feedback here. Thumbs Up

Mine is in on Thursday to have the Transmission fault reduced traction issue seen to. I will ask about this while it is in and let you all know if I find out anything.

Is this a recall on all FL2's? 100,000+ of them.

Must cost LR a fortune if this is the case

Don't fancy all my heater & dash taken out especially as i have just fitted a retro sat Nav. Big Cry

Will be interested in members findings on how long to obtain the new part from LR and how long to fit. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

Probably relates to this I found on the GTR website for "recall service bulletins"

Electric Booster Heater (PTC Heater)

Not sure if it applies to all FL2's manufactured as it's not on the VOSA website yet. ______________________

please let us know whether its all models that the Recall applies to...
Good to hear the feedback on Team Valley LR centre.... the dealer that supplied my FL is in Derby, so I was looking for LR dealer support in the North East. Sounds like the Service Centre is the place to take it! Thumbs Up 2008 XS, Baltic Blue, Privacy Glass, Full Leather,

PTC (Positive Temperature Coeficient) or something like that is a clever piece of Silicon which warms up very quickly, to aid initial heater performance especially on slow coolant warm up Diesel engines and then when it reaches a certain temperature the electrical resistance increases rapidly so allowing a self turn of feature.
I believe its first auto application was to aid cold start on Weber fitted 1600cc MG Maestro.
Not sure but is this Heater feature not also fitted to EUCD Volvos and if so are they also having this feature disconnected just in time for winter still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit
