Question re how the air con works ( Hawkeye )

Evening all

I have recently bought a HawkEye version 7 ( great bit of kit )

One thing I noticed while viewing the Live Data is that when I turn the air con ON it says "" Air Con Request ( ON ) "" but the air con its self still says "" Clutch ( OFF ) "" and does not change from OFF to ON Question If I turn the air con back off then it just says "" Air Con Request ( OFF ) ""

Shortly after buying the Freelander 2 it had the air con compressor changed because the bearing/ clutch failed, im wondering if the place that fitted the new one has not set something up? Any help would be great

On another note I can hear the clutch turn on and the air con does go cold all being it takes awhile these days

This may be stating the obvious but I'm assuming you have the blower fan switched on? The system will be ready to go but the clutch won't kick in until the fan is switched on.

Hi Steve

By blower fan do you mean the cabin air fan, if so then yes it was on and the temp setting to cold, engine was also running. Tried turning on and off a number of times and also tried eco to see if it made any difference but nothing helped.

Kind of thinking it might be a loose sensor if theirs such a thing on it? No fault codes are coming up mind.

Cheers

The A/C won't work on Eco - that turns it off to save fuel. Had a similar problem with the wife's Golf - took ages to get cold and eventually the clutch was kicking in but no cold air coming out. A regas cured it - I think they'd said it had 95 grams of gas in the system but it should have had 560 grams. Any less and the clutch wouldn't have kicked in so perhaps that could be your problem?

Does the condenser fan kick in? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
