a sort of whistling noise...?

Accelerating through the gears (although not in 1st gear when (eg) moving from a standing start) in Auto, around 1500 RPM a faint whistling sounds begins and tails off around 2000RPM.
I don't get it if I just sit in (eg) Neutral and rev through this range, only if I'm on the road in motion.
Probable diagnosis?
Anyone with thoughts??? ...

Would that result in reduced performance or other symptoms? As it is, I have no other symptoms... no reduction in power or poor running etc... Ta ...

Search my turbo thread from today.... in have the same prob.

When the car is under load or acceleraring the wind noise comes in around 2000 revs and falls off when the turbo spins down.

Ps Dan from Duckworths gave me a great price for an oem part...

That said i have found a non oem part seller cheaper how ever for me it will depend if that is a single peice rather than multiple hoses jublee clipped like the oem part.
