En route to Edinburgh this morning I accellerated to overtake and the engine management light came on with the warning message "reduced engine performance" FL2 is an MY13 with 25.5k on the clock. I brought the car home tonight 30 mls and arranged for a roadside assist call out. The service was excellent, constant updates on driver eta etc.

never a good idea to let a diesel or a petrol for that matter run very low on fuel, but sometimes it can't be helped.

Crud in the fuel tank is much less of a problem with modern plastic tanks.

Now that Costco (Liverpool) sell fuel I have been using them, seems to be at 5p/l below best elsewhere.

Around where I live there is very little variation in fuel prices at the moment, some independent garages cheaper than Tesco. Paid 119.9p at an Esso station last night. Fuel prices seem to be creeping up although oil price has stabilised at about $66 for past few weeks. Just bought 1000 litres of heating oil at 39.5p. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

friend of mine used to put heating oil into his old Astra diesel works van. reckoned it didnt make much of a difference other than the 1/2 price fuel.

I know a guy with an old diesel van who buys cooking oil and mixes it with diesel. Probably only works on really old tech engines. Anyone care to try it with their beloved FL2 and report back? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

He could have used a bit of whiskey too to up the octane level, bet thats not considered illegal?, only where they are losing out on tax revenue do they say its illegal? |

Talking of revenue loss. There have been some cases where farmers have been fined for using red diesel for things like snow clearance and cutting local football pitches. It seems that it's only for agricultural use not off road use. Crazy?
