Yes

Yes Pab, that would appear to be the case, based on poll results so far. Rolling Eyes

Any chance one of the LR dealers or indeed site sponsors could answer your BMW / Audi question?

I'm wondering how we may be able to convey that feedback to LR in any effective way, in the perhaps vain hope it may have a little influence on what they do in the future? Any ideas? Razz Life is not a dress rehearsal!

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I had to drop into LR in Chesterfield the other day to get a door grommet for my FL2 and they had a single DS in the showroom in HSE spec.

To be fair it does look nice in the flesh, but still too mainstream for my liking, the interior was well specced and seemed to be nice and solid but what let it down for me besides the bland looks and high price was the boot floor.

With the rear most seats folded down the boot is a good size but the cover over the mobility tools (air pump, foam, tow eyes etc) was extremely flimsy and loose. It did not look like it would stand up to much load bearing, or general wear and tear of dogs, tip runs, etc.

for 34k I would expect a much higher build quality of Land Rover and for that money I would be looking at nearly new Disco 4 or well specced Evoque.

Do we really need another DS thread that goes along the same lines as the one that's running? From reading the other thread it's safe to assume the DS hasn't hit the spot with most.

You won't change LRs mind over the direction their business is heading. The only mistake they are making at the moment is producing cars range by range rather than one from each which now leaves a gap in the line up that won't be filled for a couple of years.

Most on here will no doubt find the LR they are looking for in the new Defender range or dual purpose range in Land Rover speak. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

No we don't, I have asked if we can set up another forum entry for DS.
I will have a look at some stage and see if they can be merged Thumbs Up

I'm not here to knock the DS but the picture below is a good reason why I went ahead and purchased one of the last Freelander 2's to be built for Australia.
The Australian built Ford Territory which not only in appearance but set up, optional 7 seater, very similar in all ways.
I'm sure LR will sell heaps of DS as people come across from vehicles and other European brands which is exactly what LR wants and needs.
I personally like the idiosyncraties that make the Freelander 2 not everyone's cup of tea.
I have sat in a HSE LUX DS and was dissapointed by the lack of quality feel and even though the FL2 may have pleather on the door card instead of leather it's still looks the part where as the DS just has hard plastic.
The new Ingenium engines sound good though and look forward to seeing those.
In the meantime very happy with my Freelander 2 and will keep an open mind about the DS and hopefully in the future will either win me over with a facelift or a new model in the LR range.
In the meantime I'm happy knowing that I'm driving one of the last FL2's.

Ive just bought one of the last SE Tech FL2 SD4. It got all the toys we'd want and more. Saved a load of cash compared to a SD. Yes the new Ingeniums will be more economical but in the big picture fuel costs are only a small part of vehicle ownership - depreciation being the biggest cost and I think the old engined SDs will crash in value once the Ingeniums are out. Jules

To me it's a cross between an Evoque, D4 and any US Ford SUV of 2000 era, not just Discovery Sport. When L405 Range Rover was launched it was also derided for looking like the Ford Explorer too. Now:

I think the Discovery replacement is going to be very similar.

I'm not considering it at all. Too big and too expensive to be a replacement for the FL2 Rolling Eyes
