I am new here

hello just thought I would say hi as I only found you last night at work
thinking about buying a freelander very soon just don't do a lot of miles mostly short journeys which leads me to ask should I consider the i6 instead of the TD4 as I don't want dpf issues or look at other options.
also what year did the dpf start being installed was it form MY07/08 and what are lpg conversions like on i6 models
sorry about all the questions

thanks and hello again

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Hi Lyntone and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find a wealth of knowledge here! This is a "Say Hello there" thread however, not for questions. Do a search using the "Search" button above first. Then only post on a new thread if your answers cannot be found.

The i6 has a small but faithful following however they were only produced for UK in the early years. DPFs were introduced for all in UK on the 2011 model year. Very few in UK before that. Re i6 LPG conversions? Very rare, I understand. There may be a couple of members on here at most.

Enjoy the forum!

I wouldn't worry about the DPF, the only ones that have given problems were the ones fitted in the early days, software changes have improved over the years. if you do a search on here for the DPF you will only find very old threads, since they became standard on the UK Spec Freelander 2 in MY2011, only a handful gave problems, they came to light in the first couple of hundred miles and were sensor problems.
Depends what budget your looking at, if prior to MY11 the DPF was an option fit only, doubt if anyone would have specified it, but you can check by the VIN to see if it was fitted. by then the i6 had been dropped in the UK.

Thought I'd join as I'm considering buying a Freelander 2 to take with us when we emigrate to New Zealand next year Smile

[edit]I've been having a look around the forum, there's loads of info on here! But if anyone knows of a good thread that lists some of things I should look out for when buying second hand I'd appreciate a link Smile [/edit]

Hello.

Very new to the site, as in 3 mins. I am thinking of buying a freelander2, seen one on a 2010 plate anything i should look out for, apart from the obvious when buying any vehicle. I could do with honest feed back(not manufactures blurb) I will be towing a caravan, I will be going greenlaning. Any info on fuel consumption(towing and solo) i am a gentle driver while on the road and extremely experienced, off road driving in the early 70s as well,

Looking forward to the feed back. Bow down

Hi All,

I have joined as I am looking to get a TD4 XS or above in the very near future. Looks like there is plenty of info on this site. In fact, I have a post in 'General' looking for some thoughts regarding pre facelift 2010 or post facelift 2011 car.

Cheers
Mark

England 2011 LR2 SD4 Sport Auto Firenze Red
Hello!

Hi there!

I've just bought my first LR today. Does anyone recognise it? WJ57 YTO.
I'm hopefully picking it up next weekend. Really lovely to drive, no diff whine. That was the first thing I listened for as I've had 4x4's before. The only niggles appear to be a chip in the screen (not MOT fail), no load cover and a bit of a nasty hole on top the drivers door trim (not huge but noticeable), but it has full leather, F&R sensors, F&R heated screen etc.

A little fettle and it'll be like new Smile

I've ran an MG ZT-T V6 for the last 10 years and the MG forums always helped me with all sorts of queries. My MG has only let me down twice in that time (fuel pump and corroded rad pipe). Hope you guys are as friendly as the MG bunch and that I have miles/years of good motoring in my FL2.

Wendy
