That should do it but I would have thought the Bluetooth would give music as well mine does but I'm using the sub connector. Plug in the 3.5 and select aux input when music is playing. I don't know for certain just guessing as I had similar on my BMW . 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"

Hi have a MY2011 - and on it can play music from iPhone / iPod using as you said a double ended 3.5 Jack cable from headphone output socket on phone and other end in to the socket beside the power outlet in the centre console- stereo system set to Auxiliary input - push the CD/ Aux button on the stereo system to toggle between CD and Aux
