United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Zermatt Silver
GVIF + Touchscreen

Hi, I'm new! Go easy on me! Smile

I've just bought a 2010 Freelander 2, it's got the DVD Navigation which doesn't seem to be up to much so I've been researching the GVIF boxes

I can't find a decent manual for them and I'm wondering can I re-use the stock touchscreen and I/F via USB to another device(raspberry pi, ardunio etc)?

As fair as I know the GVIF units just make it a display and you wouldn't get touchscreen control of a RassberryPi Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Just to close out this topic, after a bit of research you can buy a 7" touchscreen overlay to sit over the existing touch screen + usb controller and use it this way.

One more question, I've just bought a GVIF from HIDS4U, where can I find an easily accessible 12v supply? Is the one in the center console for the 12v aux the best solution?

I bought this one from HIDS4U.

I haven't got it yet, but I was just investigating how to get into the back 12v cigarette port. Took off the coin tray from the back then the 'scoop' shaped thing. Any body know what the connectors on the back are for?

I think you can take the 12v from the DVD Nav System

Only reason I didn't consider it was I read a HIDS4U guide that was linked here and it recommended to take it from the AUX.

On that and I have no idea what is what behind here:

Anyone got any tips on running the reverse camera cable?

That only shows me the GVIF outputs not the back of the DVD player. Blue is obviously the LCD, not a clue about the others.

Anyone got a workshop manual?

No the one from HIDS4U does not work, i tried it.
The problem is the BLUE connector. The Freelander 2 is different from the rest of the other landrover cars. The connection looks like it fits but it don't. The blue connector has two wires for video to the screen, one white(sound) one yellow(video),the GVIF unit has 3 wires yellow, red, white. So me being me cut the blue connector off and spliced the wires together, it sort of worked but the sat nav flickered like mad and was unusable.
I spent 3 days trying to find a work around but in the end i sent it back.
The only ones i heard that work are from the USA but they are very expensive and you will have to pay import tax on top as well.

The wire are from left to right on the pic are: power connector, video, CAN BUS, optical out, GPS antenna . I6 WITH GAS CONVERSION

I fitted a GVIF that I got from HIDS4U, but the FL2 also requires an adapter cable, which I could only get from the US for $140 including delivery, from NavVideo.com, However that website doesn't exist anymore.

GSM Server lists the cable as out of stock.
