I presume towing a caravan to the Valencia region of Spain and back again might not be your "cup of tea" but that's where we had been. The week after we arrived home and I had gone back overseas to work the diff failed whilst my wife was driving. I'm very pleased it didn't occur whilst towing home through France and Spain as it could have been very dangerous. However the LR Assist mechanic told my wife that he thought the gearbox had exploded. All hell broke loose after receiving this information at my LR dealer and they had specialist engineers on standy ready to mobilise to investigate the cause etc...
It was very annoying at the time and I was not a "happy chappy" as LR were extremely difficult to deal with by email whilst I was at work overseas. Eventually, when I got back home from work and met my dealer face to face I negotiated what I considered to be a fair compensation package with the costs being shared between the dealer and LR.
So if you want to borrow my caravan for a couple of weeks CG, drop me a line and we'll see what we can arrange. Rolling with laughter Very Happy Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up Very Happy

Like most of us, I usually trade in after three years, then I always have a manufacturers warranty. And for those owners who keep their vehicles longer, Warranty Direct provide excellent cover.

Once a vanner always a vanner I'm afraid CG - it's in my blood, van on the back, boat on the top and diving and fishing tackle in the boot. What a way of life, you don't know what you are missing it's a fantastic environment to bring a young family up in. That's how I got hooked - my parents used to take us vanning and I've stuck with it all of my life. You should seriously consider it now you have a new arrival.
I stay at the Marriot and Hilton Hotels in my job and you can stick them where the sun don't shine, give me my van any day.

I'm the same with fishing, I've lived on the side of the river Swale all my life ..apparently prized for fishing..but never been tempted to throw a rod over the water. I guess as I work outside. I don't get the urge to go out and be at one with nature on a weekend'

And half of the 'joys' of vaning are lost on me due to having a garden in the middle of farmland. At work

YIPPEEEEE !!!

Further to my earlier post I have now clocked up 40,000 miles. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Yes I have some issues with LR and the dealer support, but the car has not failed while in use !!!

Soon be 3rd service and I hope to have at least 60,000mles on the clock when she goes next year, if she makes that without a breakdown then that will a good endorsement for me.

Think I may have that radio fault. Its cut out a few times, followed by intermittent sound loss for a few minutes then fine. I'd assumed it was linked to the guy who fitted my hands free kit but now I'm not so sure. Off to France next week so it will have to wait until I get back!

12k

12k miles in a year, and no faults at all (apart from the sunroof recall). Just had first annual service and received a clear sheet on the visual inspection of mechanics and bodywork. Life is not a dress rehearsal!

Not bad at all :)

Bought Nov/2007, just passed 23,000 km last weekend.

So far, only SRS annoyance (4 times).
After it happened for the 1st time, I asked LR dealership in Warsaw to check if there's a cabling problem, but they couldn't find anything, and I was unable to reproduce the problem.
I figured out, that SRS reports a failure if I change driver's seat position while driving. It usually helps if I stop the engine and disconnect/reconnect the small plug under my seat. Time to ask the dealer again!

Apart from that, the car is great both on and off roads.

You're neck and neck with me for miles/kms though your motor is a month younger than mine. I'm on 40800 miles (about 65500 kms)

Good fun covering all those miles/kms isn't it. Thumbs Up
