My first time here chaps/chapesses That's my steed too so although less than a year old (bugeye) I'm extremely tempted although that goes against my GOM tendency to distrust forums in general. Has TUV examined this?......then again I remember them being quoted as 'proving' the effectiveness of what turned out to be utter c..p! |

Almost all of the negative comments come from those who have never tried it. Why do you think those that use it bother to post? If it did nothing or caused problems why would they post the opposite? The results are real and you can simply add 300ml of FC grade mineral 2SO and top the tank up to find out for yourself. If you also find it's quieter and smoother etc you also might be inclined to share that with others, despite the armchair critics. |

If my memory serves me right, I recall TUV doing research into additives, in the past, being quoted by the product suppliers, but seemingly no research institute has bothered in spite of all the glowing reports.

That's quite reasonable to have those concerns and it will worry you if you do try it. So probably best to give it a miss. |

That's a big gain in fuel economy.

Results are convincing enough from the fuel economy point. Unknowns include exhaust pollutants, wear and tear of injection or even clogging etc.

The synthetic oil could be causing problems, apparently it doesn't mix well and bond with diesel as mineral does.

Your increased smoke could also be due to overdosing. If you know how much diesel a fuel gauge division corresponds to, then you could measure the volume of the cap and adjust your dosing to be around the 1:200 . I put 50ml markings on an old plastic soft drink bottle and use this to set the dose when refuelling |

The FL2 has a 70 litre tank, so 1:200 corresponds to 350ml of 2T oil.

My current garage reckons Castrol Edge is the best and that's what they use at services. A previous garage reckoned the same but agreed that Magnatec was probably ok. Both say that the recommended oil is poor in comparison and don't use it on any vehicles they service.

Castrol Edge is the one all the dealers seem to use. Use search to have a look at other threads, rather than hijacking this one. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
