Washer light?

Hi all bit of a random question maybe but today my washer system seem to run out of water and no light come on the dash? I thought before it run out a light or message was ment to warn the driver? Also the head light washers still try to spray even when the washer is empty, thought they were ment to stop when it gets low?

Any help would be greatful

Sounds more like a blockage or level sensòr failure perhaps?
If the pump is running then when empty it sounds very fast, does it sound different?

Does the rear wash still operate?

Think it just thinks its got water in the bottle when its empty, all the pumps are running and trying to work while its empty, and no warning light/message ( guess it has a sensor? ) just been out and refilled the washer bottle and its all working normal but just not as it should when getting empty Rolling Eyes

Anyone ever changed the sensor/float? Not sure what type it has?

Do you use just water?
If so its probably gummed up with a black 'biofilm' stick your finger up the bath tap, it will be full of it Shocked

Maybe some strong washer fluid will clear it?

(I accept no resposibilty for getting your finger stuck in the tap) Laughing

No not water but its easyer for auto phone text to type lol normal always use washer fluid but the last two owners might not have Rolling Eyes Just had a google and ordered a new sensor so will wait for it to turn up then have ago at replacing. Guessing its the drivers side wheel arch off then the bottles behind that? This is the first time i have run the bottle down to empty so it might of been broken sinse before i got the truck.

Cheers

Had ago today at trying to see whats going on regards the washer, as the new £2.60 part turned up lol ( such a cheap part but such a annoying thing to change )

Took all the driver side wheel arch out,and you can see the washer bottle and its two pumps rather well but the sensor is on the far side and you can not remove it while the bottle is in place as theres a bit of metal that's in the way. The only way it seems is to remove the bumper and then remove the washer bottle before the sensor can be removed and the new one fitted Thumbs Up I will give this ago some point either this week or when it ever stays dry for an afternoon ( Doing work out on the curb side is a pain to say the least ) I unplugged the old ( broken sensor ) and plugged the new one in and it all worked great and gave the dash board message as it should )

Will follow powerfuls youtube video on bumper removal seems like it will be an easy job. Just need a spare pair of hands to hold the bumper as it comes off but maybe It will be ok on my own Thumbs Up

Cheers

Daniel

P.s must say thank you to brit parts for such a well packed item! They really did pack it awesomely for an item that's so cheap. Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

Changed the darn thing!

What an effort Laughing Had to take the bumper mostly off ( the stupid plastic nuts on the passenger side would not come off, why land rover fit these is beyond me as they studs rust and the nuts are then pointless ) So ending up supporting the bumper on a jack then bending it forwards off the truck so I could get the wash bottle undone to remove and fit the new sensor. But now all is working well Thumbs Up Took about 3 hours as I tried to remove the bottle first with the bumper on and no luck, if it had to be done again now knowing, maybe an hour and a half todo the job.

Also fitted a new battery as well, 85 by 800 cold crank
