Speedometer in km

I'm sure that the first time I took my MY13 abroad, when I switched from mpg to litres/km the speedometer magically changed from miles to km. Tried it again this week and although all the digital readouts, including the digital speedo, changed to km, the speedo dial remained in mph.
So did I imagine it last time, or has something gone wrong with my instrument panel? Anyone got any thoughts? Or maybe could just try the switch themselves and report what happens?
I've had a look in the handbook and can't find anything relevant. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

You imagined it Smile I also changed it over when in France and the digital speed readout changes to kph but no change on the dial.

Thanks for that! It's nice to know that the car is OK - just need to worry about my sanity now! Shocked Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I had something similar that did my head in, for some reason I prefer the sat nav to talk back in metres and I felt sure I could do that on its own and I spent hours in the menu's. But no, for that to happen I have to go metric in everything including the speed readout and also losing mpg to litres. Seems its a global change unless anyone knows different Confused

England 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

I had something similar on a Saab 93. If I wanted imperial measurements (mpg) I had to settle for a 12 hour clock. Drove me mad as I always use the 24 hour notation. Series 2A 1961, 1975-78, made to last forever.
Series 3 Lightweight, 1973, 1999 - 2012, still regret selling this car.
Freelander 1, 2005, 2005 - 2008, sold the minute its warranty expired.
Defender 90 200 TDi, 1985, 2012 - 2014, paid far too much for it.
Defender Wolf, 1998, 300 TDi, 2017 - 2019, too expensive to maintain and the Army hadn't.
Defender Puma, 2009, 2014 - 2014, not a sensible family car.
Freelander 2, 2012, current, is this the car to last?
