Been to the dealers twice with an annoying rattle/buzzing. They couldn't find anything.

Fixed in 5 minutes this morning. Somehow I never really considered removing the indicator and tightening a bolt!

Gonna be checking this out on Saturday as I have the buzz. The LR dealer quoted me £250 to take the dash out to find it! I wonder if they put these little quirks in as "money making" features for them Wink

Something I found on mine was if you remove the battery cover there is a bracket with what looks like the alarm sounder on it. the end of the bracket on mine was very close to the bulkhead. I just set it forward a little so it cant touch it now.

Another one who has used this thread to cure an annoying buzz from glove box / n/s top of dash area.

Didn't take the trim out, just removed the n/s indicator repeater and went in with a socket from a multibit screwdriver set.

been ok for best part of a year now.

Glad I found this thread, that rattle has been doing my head in, thought it was glove box handle until it rattled whilst it was being held, found this , tightened bolt, no rattle ! Thanks

Hi all,

I have had a rattle driving me nuts for the last 6 months or so! It was coming from the glove box area so obviously I started looking round that way! To cut a VERY long story short we had to think outside the box. Turned out one a small bolt behind the passenger indicator loom was very lose! Tightened it up and vola!

Anyone got any idea what its for ? Thumbs Up

Is the side vent on passenger side easily removed? The rattle has come back and I want to get at the bolt with some locktite.

Me too
2010 HSE and the buzz from the vent area has been annoying. Popped out tonight and had a look. Able to get a full turn on the nut, hope this has it all sorted. Great forum Thumbs Up

Thanks again to the contributors here Thumbs Up

I just checked mine and found the screw is completely missing with the intake duct flopping around loosely Shocked

As you can see, it's screwed into a plastic bush, this is probably why some have commented that it doesn't seem to tighten positively. I replaced it with an M6 stainless self tapper and large washer -

For access it helps to remove the outer grille -

It's held in place by two rigid tabs on the top edge and two (slightly) springy clips on the lower and forward edges, you need to lift upwards on the centre bar while pulling out from the bottom, it will feel like it's going to break but it will come out.

I couldn't take the vent out but managed to get the bolt out with a magnetised socket. The bolt is metal and looks OK but it won't tighten even after winding some silicon tape onto the thread. The hole doesn't seem to have any plastic insert and the bolt just spins. For me the only option is to have a nut and bolt at this joint but I don't think I can get to the back after looking from under the glove box and under the car hood. Any advice is much appreciated.

I'm afraid I can't really help there, I would assume the plastic insert is pushed in from the outside and access is most likely not possible from the backside, that being the case I guess you'd have to remove the wing in order to take the intake duct off, then replace the plastic bush.
Please don't take my word for it though Confused
