This is from an old thread when the swarf issue was rearing its head, might be worth a look? |

I'm 99% sure it's a blocked filter.

You could always fix it yourself before then, then say it's gone better by itself, 'they all do it sir' dealer lingo

Got a friend with a pair of axle stands? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

Not that Im aware of. I will check the flow for mushroom shape bulge and if it is clearly iffy I will see if I can speed things up. |

I have changed the power steering filter on both my sons and my own Freelander. It is a fairly easy job to do by one person provided that you have a good 2 ton high lift jack which will lift both front wheels off the ground. It is also beneficial that you give the power steering a good flush through. I did this by first pumping through 4 litres of red power steering fluid then changing to the genuine green Landrover fluid until it ran through clear green. The attached video will show you haw to do it. You will also need a syphon pump and also make sure that you protect the area beneath the filter as you will most definately get some spillage. It is not a difficult job to do apart from releasing the filter clip.

Thanks. That's the video I watched but all moot if I cant get the wheels off the road. I may be cheaper risking the fault finding cost and get it done under warranty. Hopefully nothing breaks in the 2 weeks - its been like this for at least 3 months so fingers crossed. |

Right, wee update. Had my neighbour move the wheels about while the engine idled and I looked at the fluid in the reservoir. Other than vibration from the engine, I couldn't see any movement in the oil at all. I assume I should see the white plastic filter sticking out the top of the oil?

Ok, gonna do it myself. So, I have the part numbers for the reservoir and the LR fluid. Do I need 2 litres of fluid?

Did mine a few weeks ago I bought three litres and the filter reservoir from our forum LR sponsors. It only takes one bottle but I double flushed to ensure the fluid was perfect and was left with a good half litre spare

Thanks for that. Is it obvious when the fluid is running clear with no old left if it is all the same colour? |
