Just the one

Put it in auto, it's an automatic and I don't get why you would want to drive in command all the time Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I understand why you would use command shift all the time.
The difference is around 4mpg improvement (with my vehicle on the roads i drive).

I only use command shift when driving on a + b roads and on short journeys. I find it has no benefit on the motorway unless you are towing.

If you are a road craft driver command shift will help you to drive systematically.

Command shift starts you in second gear which has the benefit of preventing the delay when you go to pull away but if you are in stop start traffic normal auto is better as you can pop it in and out of neutral which means for certain situations you need to use both modes to get the best mpg.

When I am old I will use the auto all the time though.

So, given say an annual mileage of 10k that would save you about £200 per year on an overall running costs of £4k.
Why bother? Just enjoy it and stop worrying about fuel...or maybe buy a push bike? Very Happy

I am always amazed when people buy a 4x4 and then comment about 1 extra mpg......especially in an auto. Either buy a little light car with mega mpg or just enjoy.

Did you check the running costs before buying?

I have an auto SD4 and it is so relaxing or fun on the odd occasion you give it some wellie, but it makes driving effortless and more importantly safer, and yes I am an expert trained driver and no I don't race between the lights!

Hello

After driving 750,000 miles as a road engineer over 18 years I left and bought my own cars

For five years I had a 3 door Mitsubishi shogun auto
Gave up shooting and had an Audi s line a4 avant auto
Bought my freelander as I didn't want a 3 door again and elderley relatives couldn't bend low enough to get in, and I went back into shooting

I really had a Censored start with my freelander

When I'm driving it it doesn't use it's higher gears as much as I'd like, hence the reason command shift seems more appealing
to me for a more evolved driving experience

Forum members quote mpg figures for there cars, but with two forms of gearbox in the same car of mine

I just wondered if anyone had got the figures for using Command Shift more frequently than just sitting there and pressing Go

Try teaching the box to shift up Idea

It's adaptive so if you feel it should be in a higher gear and your speed will allow it, command shift up a gear and pop it back into auto and see how it gets on after a while Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
