Out of interest how many miles do each of you get from a tank? I have filled my new LR2 Metropolis up and it states it has 388 miles left In the tank.

I am averaging 29mpg according to the on board computer with just under 400 miles on the clock. Is that about right? It was full when I picked it and I refilled it back up at just under quarter of a tank.

Seem to be at the petrol station quite often now, is that the norm?

Appreciate any advise.

570 miles from the current tank, but running on fumes now. 500-ish is the norm.

Autos are poor on fuel consumption - 7mpg worse than manuals according to LRs figures, so whilst 29 may be a little low it's fairly typical.

when tank full dash indicated 490 miles to empty. Had a run from east Hampshire into deepest depths of Dorset yesterday 120 miles each way and returned 42 mpg indicated and 40.01 when refilled on return home. That is about the same as my old Ford Focus 1.6 ghia over a similar journey.

64033 - Do you let your LR run to near enough empty or re-fill at quarter of a tank? Only reason I ask is my Metropolis now has 800 miles on the clock and I have been re-filling it at just under half a tank and once filled it says there is 386 miles to empty. Trip on reset states fuel consumption is 29.2mpg and on auto it has gone up to 36.7mpg on a run to Basingstoke.

Just curious as to why your LR shows more miles to empty than mine.

England

It will give the Range dependant on what your current mpg is, doing short runs, poor mpg low Range, do a run and get the average up into the 30's on your next fill up your Range will be much improved.

Hi Ben LR2 I normally refuel with around 1/2 to a 1/4 of a tank left. When working out mileage I normally work it out using trip mileage and fuel in litres from either pump or receipt and always stop on first pump shut off, don't have to much faith in trip computer.

Having my 11 GS for just over a week, I've been trying to resist the urge to drive any steadier than I did in my old Insignia. I'm now hovering around the 37mpg mark!! That's a combo of dual carriage and country roads!! #gulp!! Although I was expecting it to be honest, just got to get mind set that I'm driving a FL2 and not an insignia anymore lol . . if I want to see good mpg figures, I can always borrows wifey's C1 . . but then again 😜 lol . .

Still loving the dream!!!!

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Indus Silver

On a 458 mile run yesterday from Cumbria to Dorset and then travelling around i managed 40.64 actual which was indicated at 39.6mpg on the obc. This was mainly motorway miles at between 65 & 70mph.

over the past 3900 miles i have averaged 36.11, i generally fill up at between 1/4 and 1/2 tank and add 250ml of 2t always using shell or Bp fuel.

mine is a 2008 manual and has 54k miles on it.

in really happy with the mpg as its better than our previous 2010 2.0tdi 4motion vw tiguan that only averaged 34mpg. Current 2008 Freel2 HSE
Prev 2010 Freel2 GS & 57 Disco3 HSE

Being used to 60+mpg with my Mercedes C200 I seldom look at fuel computer on the Freelander SD Auto. If you want a car suitable for the job you pay the price.
This weekend I will be driving some 50 miles through Galloway Forrests delivering timing equipment for Merrick Rally. 25 mpg would be good.
Next month on Mull single track roads stop start with passing places much the same.

What I can say is that 2010 SD Auto and Current SD Auto are better on fuel by about 5 mpg than 2008 TD Auto under same circumstances. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.
