We have two Springers, 4 and 2 as well as a 5 month old lab. All from working lines and all get worked, the Springers both beat as well as do tests/trials. They get half an hour walk in mornings, then in kennels outside all day whilst we both work with a little 30 min exercise at lunch from a friend. Then they are inside and sleep in the garage overnight. Occasional walk in evening and generally have 2-3 hours of work/training each day at weekends.

Fantastic dogs and put their heart into everything when working and relatively calm in the house, they have a mad hour when we get in but calm down after. You get out what you put in. Plenty of mental exercises and training tires them out much more than miles of walking, we can do an hours training and they sleep for hours.

We spent a lot also on our Kennels, plenty of run space, covered and very secure due to the rise in dog thefts (also some CCTV in there) and feel very happy to leave them in there for long periods. Just don't bung them in for 4 hours and expect miracles!

Springers take a special mindset....but nowhere near as bad as Cockers....

Perhaps it's just that Cockers she'd less than Springers then, I know plenty of Cockers who shed a fair amount but it does seem to vary year on year. Certainly not like Labs where great chunks come off but definite sprinkling of hair everywhere

Well something's have been agreed on and the search for a good breeder with a working cocker spaniel dog has begun

I have my name down on a breeders list for a litter to be born in a few months but till she is scanned to see the whelp I'm not sure if I will be lucky

Sent out a few emails to breeders and so far they are £500-£800 a pup  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Bought my gf a working cocker pup in December, shes 9 months now.
She is a lot of work and needs loads of exercise (thats ok we love walking) and loads of attention and don't even think your house will ever be the same again but I wouldn't part with her now
She's called Bailey by the way and no, it's not because of the drink colour!
