Just sit there and let the dog choose you. Don't start blubbing like I did though! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Agree let them pick you, we ended up with the runt of the litter, but wouldn't be without him now. Good luck and i'm expecting some photos |

You can buy for around £30 a fancy pedigree chart from the KC that will confirm what is on the pedigee you will be given,by the way the two pups look grand I take it they are working stock. |

get the breeder to supply you with a vet check certificate and a good breeder should give you insurance for the first few weeks against illness etc, it comes in a puppy pack from companies like pet plan (the best in our opinion)

Yep, the breeder we got our dog from had our dog microchipped in our name, docked, insured for a month, KC registration stuff, food, a list of do's and do nots and a stinky piece of blanket from her bed with the smell of her mum, sisters and brother on it to help her settle. We got her from this breeder because all our friends had. We all (including the breeder) walk together at least twice a week - can be up to 10 related spaniels at any one time. Other people think we are some kind of chocolate spaniel appreciation society when they see our pack coming along. We also all go away with the dogs for a week over the new year period where we always rent a big house that accepts dogs somewhere. It's great fun - 10-18 people and 8-10 dogs in one house! When we go on holiday without the dogs, either on our own or with our friends, all the dogs go back to Jackie, the breeder, where they get taken out over a farm every day and get to sleep in her house/on her bed. The breeders partner runs shoots every year and we sometimes take them along as flushers or fetchers for a bit of fun. Get paid too in cash and pheasants!

Some good lines there, have worked with similar dogs with that pedigree. £800 is pretty rich and you are paying for the FTCH lines which is great, but do you really need it if you don't intend to compete with it? £300-600 is a good range for working Cockers, low end is generally good workers with no awards ( not necessarily a bad thing, competition dogs vs beating dogs is a whole topic) and at the high end it's more FTCh's. Over £600 is paying for name. Breeder should provide you with full 5 gen pedigree up front, if not walk away. |
