Can't remember where I heard it but someone told me that in the summer, the diesel "formula" is changed as in winter there are additives to prevent "frothing at the pump" (nasty). I have always noticed an increase in mpg in diesel cars in the summer, even on cool days so it can't be down to the temperature alone.

Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

7 months in with 10000 miles and not resetting it I am getting 27.5 mpg. Not great, especially when paying 1.40 per ltr up my way at the moment!!!

thats what i get on my normal days driving around town

Though the other day I drove around in the highest gear possible, no hard accelerating, 70mph on motors etc and felt like i was driving Miss Daisy, but at 37mph, got bored the following day and averaged 24mpg Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Are any of you driving the USA version of this car? I can't get the damn thing to go above 13mpg for anything. I have tried and tried and the only way to make it go above that is if I go on a long trip on the highway.

Remember also the US gallon is smaller than the imperial gallon that we use. If I've done my maths the right way round 13 miles per US gallon is 15.6 miles per imperial gallon.

Not a great improvement, but might make you feel a little better Whistle
